Value of machined heads from a 2.7?
I need the advice of the market gurus.
I have a set of heads that I paid dearly to have reconditioned and machined by Bob Hurst/Anchor Atlantic to rebuild my motor. I have since decided to get PMO carbs and ditch the CIS. So I purchased another set of heads and had them machined and bored etc.. I would like to get a recommendation on what to sell them for in the forums/ebay. These are date stamped 8-74 Here is the work performed. Ultrasonically cleaned & glass beaded. 12- Manganese bronze valve guides installed & honed. 6- Exhaust valves replaced w/ 41mm (1mm o/s) & fitted. 6- Intake valves replaced w/ 47mm (1mm o/s) & fitted. 5- Exh. studs removed, holes repaired, 1- TimeSert & S.S. studs, washers, nuts included. Valves ground w/ 2 angles & seats cut w/ 3 on Serdi machine. Cylinder seating areas machined (.013 thousands). Cylinder head tops surfaced. Valve springs tested OK. Spring height & valve length set. Assembled with new Viton stem seals Here are some pics. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546663413.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546663413.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546663413.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546663413.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546663413.jpg |
Not sure how much you have into them but, you may have a tough time recouping your money. I’m not well versed on the 2.7 market. I paid $2500 for a set of 3.0 large port twin plug heads that were freshly rebuilt by Ollie’s. That was a few years ago. Seams like FMV for a fresh set of 3.0 or 3.2 heads is $2700-$3200. Again, not sure about 2.7s but I’d think it’d be about the same if not a little less.

Heads such as this struggle to reach $1600 all said and done - and these are done, but there is a limited market. Though I may be interested, because I love my CIS.
