why ain't there a thread on

this? >> Porsche to Restart 911 GT2 RS Production After Cargo Ship Sinks With Cars On Board - The Drive

ive got a couple things on the 4 lost cars in this sinking.

will the replacement cars be worth more money at some point down the line due to the loss at sea? kinda a unique story behind a car and we all know how some will pay big money for a Porsche with a past. will they call this the Gilligan's Island run?

while considering the reproduction efforts a couple things crossed my mind on numbers.

knowing the GT2 is not your everyday production model and are likely assembled by the best of the best away from the assembly line will they only make 4? I would have to assume they have the components around to make 4 while cutting into the factory's future NIB replacement parts.

if not for insurance could they make just four of any, even a specialty model like the GT2 and have it make good business sense? so say if they were to fire the stoves and make a run of 10 cars do they all get the Gilligan moniker? and the possible future story price bump?

discuss

Why not? Kind of like how Ferrari said they only were going to make 400 Enzos.

Maybe the VIN numbers of the sunk cars will start showing up in the marketplace? How fast does a GT2 go... underwater? And, what's the market value of a recovered Porsche amphibian once owned by Aquaman and the Weeki Watchee mermaids? :-)

I think they went about this all wrong, you're supposed to carefully lower the 911 into the water, not dump the whole cargo ship...

There was a lot of fire on that ship. I don't know that it's going to be just water logged when you retrieve it.

That's an awesome picture, I'd like to know the story behind it.

The kid in the back of the boat is giving a "I'm only 8 but even I think this is a bad idea" look.
