Gradys 914-6

I saw Gradys car at the SCCA National Runoffs in 81 when I ran my 914-6 as well.I loaned him a spare set of my hand built headers to try out.Great fun guy.Hard to place a value though.Fred

I believe this car is currently owned by one of the founding members of a modern well known band.
I don't want to throw names out...but he was planning on restoring this until he found another 6 that was %100...well 99% ready to race. They never seem to be 100%

yup...I don't blame you. Its like a 912 race car vs a 911 in the end it really has no bearing on performance. This 914-6 has some provenance. I sold a 914-6 IMSA roller last year. It was in better shape than this car for similar money.

I also think he is asking in the 30's but my guess is sell in the mid 20's. Again this is only speculation on my end!

Yep. For HSR or RMVR or similar groups they don’t care. They just care that it’s old enough. I’m gonna harvest my car of it’s Supertec 2.8 and Wevo 916 for a hot rod. It’s pretty permanently a racecar but I can put it back together the a type iv and stock gearbox and still have fun. Or maybe a Subaru engine with a Cayman gearbox. I’ve got the parts...

It would just be neat to own Grady’s car.

I paid $15,000 for this 470 race car, former IMSA history. Has a 3.2 6 zyl in it and had a Hewland Gearbox, that got pulled by me.

It's undergoing some changes now.

I can't follow with all the race car spec or numbers. It's way out of my realm, or over my head. A close friend here though built an early 911 motor with Subaru pistons and rods. He's also a machinist. He said that motor went like something crazy on performance.

Yeah, we know. We’ve seen the pics and heard the story more times than I have fingers and toes.

I know it, you know it, but someone stumbling across a thread trying to valuate an old 914-6 race car might find another recent point of reference very interesting. The forum lives on, long after many of us are thinking about it. A historical reference in the modern age.

There’s a thread for conversion values.

I was suggesting you could contribute to that one. Had nothing to do with this one.
