The 911 is not going electric

At least we can still plan on driving a real gas engine 911 for the near future!

I quote,
"Porsche chief executive Oliver Blume is “adamant” that the 911 “will remain an internal combustion model”

Progress matches on. As battery technology improves, we will wonder why we clung to our archaic internal combustion engine machines. I have no problem with the next generation of electric Porsches.

I agree, and in fact, think it would be a lot worse if Porsche starting making SUVs, crossovers, and sedans! Ohhhh wait!

Make no mistake, I’ve got no problem with the electric cars. I could drive an electric Macan or Panamera. But the new Carrera looks fat and bloated.

Everyone already raves about the Panamera E Hybrid Turbo, it'll make its way to the 911 no doubt. Ferrari is already rumored to be launching the "F173" in May at Monaco that will usher in the KERS tech hybrid super cars. Porsche will have to adapt or die when all the big dogs move to electric tech.

The Carreras have looked (kinda) fat and (kinda) bloated for years. All they do is keep increasing the length, width, power and tech (and weight!). For the love of God, todays Carreras are as big as an old Mustang.

I've stopped trying to enjoy new cars. I like manual steering, a ride that tells me what all four wheels are doing, and the growl of a motor that isn't hidden by sound deadening and amplified by speakers.

Anything less feels compromised.

The new Carrera Is a phenomenal fail in so many ways. Longer and heavier, videogame screens instead of the five round gauges, tiny little pdk nubbin, big gulp half-gallon cupholders, fake exhaust tips, sound sensors which castrate the car when you drive over a puddle, bacon strip brake lights, contrived clamshell spoiler, overengineered electronic door handles, and above all goofy 21" rears and looks like 22" on the Turbo. And yet some people dig it.

We've already seen KERS systems on the La Ferrari and 918.

Yes, those were test beds, the next cars will be "high production".

Me too. Plus, prices are absurd.

Let’s face it, some people just like new plus the more technology the better it is for some. Personally I dig some new things, especially for a daily but for a fun factor, I prefer older vehicles. Other than speed, electric vehicles are boring, like a lot of new cars. All these hyper cars are nothing more than money grabbers for the manufacturer. They are no longer made for an enthusiast or an owner for that matter. They are made as beta testers for all of the other crap that is coming down the line. Most of these new super and hyper cars can’t even be worked on by an Indy shop or an owner for that matter. Electric cars will probably be only serviceable through a dealer thus eliminating most Indy shops. In my opinion we will be giving most control of our cars to the manufacturer. Just like Apple does with their products.

I am fine with a new electric powered 911, or if they are gas, diesel or steam.
Porsche can build SUV's station wagons or over the road trucks to me , Front engine , water cooled, it is all fine and perfectly ok that they make money producing what people want.
I just do not want it, None of what Porsche does now or did in the past 35 years with their New cars effected the cars I own or will own.
I drive the new cars from time to time and they are as nice as any new car, very impressive, like a I phone.

Oh c’mon.

But what about, amongst others, the fan belt light???
