Asked to sell a 356C coupe need pricing advice

eBay shows no 356C coupe successfully auctioned for more than $27K, and yet the majority of cars for sale on certain sites are $100K and up.

I suspect the subject car is worth $60K. It has minimal rust (door shells only) and original sheet metal. Hot-rodded original engine. Front oil cooler. Color change from Light Ivory to silver, black vinyl interior in 'driver' condition. Starts, runs, drives and stops. Has a roll bar and fuel cell. Was intended for track use, and has some old racing history. Straight with good gaps...

Your informed opinions welcomed.

I keep up with the for sale ads in Panorama. From watching the trends for years I’d say 60-65.

Send a few pics to my email. I’ll ask a couple guys who still track them.

Pics would help. $35,000-60,000 is the spread right now for driver C Coupes.

A lot of it depends on how reversible the track mods are.

Post this question on the 356 registry. Lot's of knowledgeable and helpful guys there.

Put it on eBay for 99 cents and set a reserve at ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

What it bids up to will give you an idea. SmileWavy

It shows well, but you will have a limited audience since many will see it as a restoration candidate. To about 2/3 of the 356 buying public, anything that isn't fully restored in original spec is a "restoration candidate". Apparently many guys don't actually want to drive the cars anymore, they just want to stare and have others stare.

I would peg this one at mid 40's to be conservative. It could go higher since it's a matching numbers SC, the finest driving 356 that ever left the Factory, but I think $60,000 would be a stretch.

I'll give you a good example, I had a matching numbers Super 90 Factory Sunroof car a few years ago, re-built motor by a known builder, drove great, looked ok. Almost everyone who was interested in the car kept talking about how much it was going to cost to restore it. I was thinking $55,000-60,000, I could barely squeeze $40,000 out of it after months of looking at it. I told Matt, if we can't get $40,000, I'll keep it and drive it, at least I could see the value in a car like that.
