AIC Auto sales, PA.
First time poster here.
I'm looking to put a foot in Porsche water for the first time, either a '85 on 911 or 964 C2 for weekends/DE. I found this company in PA with a '85 Carrera. http://www.aicauto.com/ 1986 911 Carrera coupe in white, 54k. Mint! $27,500. or alternately 1981 911 SC Euro cpe. Auto X, DE, or street Awesome! (sic) $22,500. These seems a little expensive - No? Anyone had any experiences with this company? Thanks in advance |

I haven't any direct experience with them because I find their prices way above market. Admittedly, they are in business to make money but... The cars sure shine up pretty. In fact better than most that are listed here.. but the ones here are $5-9K cheaper. Spend more time learning about the cars and their relistic transaction prices (Most SC are in the 9-18K and Carerras in the $11-25K). In the end, using the guide bar of "all 911s are $20K cars, you need to figure if you will buy low and improve on your own or start high and hopefully find a good one).

+1 for what racers says. No knock on that shop since I have never dealt with them. Same reason the prices are higher then what I would call "full retail". I would name those prices "full retail and then some"

I owned that SC and it is a super car ! Euro engine, and as fast as a chipped 3.2.
Have thought about buying it back, even at that price. It is capable of FTD autocross times, and that is a good portion of its value. I have also driven the white 86. Nice car, AC and fast. The thing bout John is that he is honest, and sells good cars. You can get into one of his cars and drive it without putting it into the shop after a week. PM me if you want more info. And yes, you can buy nice cars for less. But the cars are nice, make no mistake. If you have ever been burned, that is worth a couple of extra dollars. John won't haggle, and his cars do sell. |

Oh yeah. my wife goaded me into selling the SC because it has no air.
I think about that car every day. Used the money to pay off a second mortgage, so I guess I did the right thing. I'm having a Charlie Brown moment here. |

I've talked to John in the past about a few cars I've been interested in at his dealership. He seems honest and isn't giving you a line of B.S. that is typical with used car dealerships.
I've been watching AIC's website for years. John always has very nice cars and rarely, if ever, has a dog in the inventory. These cars appear to be cream of the crop cars and are priced accordingly. These cars do not sit around, so he must be getting his pricing for his inventory. Last edited by Jay H; 01-14-2008 at 05:47 PM.. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. I see this morning that the SC is under offer!
Another car I'm looking at is a super clean 92 C2 with 58K miles + full history. The dealer is asking $31K. KBB values this at $10K less for full retail. The dealer has a similar reputation to AIC, asking all the money for straight cars........but 50% loading?????? |

I agree with others here, those #'s seem high. I have a recent data point.. I just located a car for a customer two weeks ago, a G50 Carrera targa with approx 90k on it that is very clean overall (PPI showed it needed new shocks, oil cam lines replaced and torn axle boots, repairs totaling a bit over $2k) for a final price of $16k....

Aic auto
Just noticed this post....Interestingly the negative comments about my prices are from competing Dealers! Very pathetic.

even more weird you'd dredge up an almost 12 year old post to make that comment.
business slow? sheesh...

I was confused for a second why someone would think $28,000 is expensive for a low mileage 3.2.

Awe...2008 market values....I love seeing these old threads getting bumped. That same year I sold my 993 C2 coupe 6-speed with 110k mi for $21k just a couple months before moving from Las Vegas to Kansas City. Tried to get $25k but nope. And the great quote of the time, as stated earlier in this thread, “all 911s are $20k cars”, pay now or later.
