Steering wheel value
Hello all,
I recently replaced my 930S steering wheel out of my car. Did a search and saw a few. Trying to see what the value is if I decide to sell it. It is a 360mm diameter and it came out of my 86 special wishes turbo. The wheel is pretty much perfect with a very small blemish at 10 o’clock. I have attached a close up of it. I’d be selling it with its hub. Your opinions are appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If someone needs it for their 86 special wishes turbo that is missing, it's probably more. In the past I have paid for similar wheels $350 to $500 for my cars that were missing the originals. Most I ever paid was recently for a Kremer wheel for $650 for my Kremer. It came thru customs with a stock wheel probably to look more stock. Did not work to well as it sat in Newark POE, impounded for about a year.

I bought this wheel from
Our host with the hub and emblem for about $500 total years ago. It is a great wheel . You should get at least $400 for everything! |

$350 ish. its pretty common and would think it has more value staying with the car
If you wait for a few months until people are sitting in the winter dreaming of projects for the Porsche, you might get a little more, but for a few hundred is it really worth separating it from the car ?

I'd say it is probably worth $350 or even more, but you might have to fend off low-ballers for a while. I found selling steering wheels to be unlike selling other spares...
This is an aftermarket wheel made by Aitwe - who also made the wheel for Porsche (mostly sold through the Techquipment accessory store branding, although they were also standard fitment on the 968 Club Sport). But not, ironically, on the 930S, which, while supplied with multiple different steering wheels from the factory, didn't usually come with this one (although Special Wishes would have done pretty much anything you wanted if you'd asked). So that "930S" nomenclature is pretty much pure marketing BS. The OE Porsche-supplied wheels have both the magic stylized "P" manufacturing mark - and the horn pad with an embossed crest that only ever came on "real" wheels (968 Club Sport horn pad is listed in PET, but no-one has ever reported being able to get one). The Aitwe wheel is the exact same thing, from the same factory but without the "P" mark). The small 356 crest (from a door, I think?) fitted to the horn pad marks it as most certainly aftermarket. I bought a generic horn pad and left mine blank... There's two styles of this wheel; this one, the "plumber's crack" version, and what I had believed to be the earlier version (entirely smooth on the front of the bottom spoke) - until I saw a photo of what was supposed to be an original 968 Club Sport and it had the plumber's crack wheel. Shrug. Dunno. But these are merely different runs/they changed the way they made the wheel. There's been a lot of noise about leather differences (some are coarse grained, some are smoother), padding thickness, etc - usually guys trying to establish that the Porsche-supplied ones are, in some way, different or superior. But AFAIK, the KB70111 wheels Aitwe make at any given instant match exactly what they supply to Porsche. The wheel (also known as "Formel" or "Indianapolis" BTW), was very popular in Europe, fitted to many different cars and also made in a 320mm version. They used to be all over Flea Bay - but by the time you've sourced a hub and horn pad, they're not cheap that way either... I like the wheels a lot, but for cosmetic reasons. Arguably the 350mm Momo is actually a slightly better wheel (if you rotate the instruments, the Momo obscures less - eg you can read both oil temp and pressure at a glance without moving your head). Do you have the horn ring? I don't see it in the photo with the pad removed. I have several spares in a box if you need one. Or they were available very reasonably from FVD last I looked.
