Games in the Market for Porsche
Interesting occurrence....Car runs on Pcarmarket and gets bid to $29,500, and is RNM.
Car is then listed on BAT and sells for $20k plus fees. Owner / Seller says the reserve on Pcar was $30k which is BS since a high bid of $29,500 would have the car sold at $30 with Pcar making up the $500 out of their take. I get the feeling that Pcar market plays a lot of games. I know people who have sold some HIGH dollar cars on that site but I am not sure I would trust them. Here is the earlier auction on Pcar: https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/dealtank-1978-porsche-911-sc-30/ Here is the listing on BAT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-porsche-911sc-24/ BTW pcar has the car in "deal tank" allowing you to make an offer on the car. Strikes me as odd that the seller passes on a $29,500 bid and accepts the $20k bid.

Def a tricky / suspect feeling about PCM, but i was amazed to see Matt Mariani / 'fixer' sell the stinger there.
(There was a comprehensive really enjoyable build thread on the car on here, but I think he pulled all posts on the stinger build since his r-institute biz kicked off) DK if you could PM him: r-institute and get his take. Be curious why he took such a known car to that venue over others |

Definitely odd. What would doing something like this accomplish?
There is an 86 coupe that shows as "sold" on PCM, but the same dealer has had it for sale since before the auction and they still have it for sale? The deal fell through? They bought their own car?

I was tracking a speedster they. PC auction shows it as sold, however I still see it listed elsewhere for sale.

Maybe “P” in pcarmarket secretly stands for Phony, because nothing is at it seems on that website.
The bigger question is what’s the over/under on that site shutting down, it looks like dead man walking. |

Isn’t it operated by a dealer so he can try to find a way to cash in on the popularity of a well known site that *gasp* auctions cars? I was under the impression that the cars almost all belonged to either said dealer or one of his amigos.
Perhaps being single marque, it attracted a more sophisticated audience than the cheerleaders at same well known site. That’s always going to be a problem - having people that know what they are looking at - when you are trying to sell a sows ear. |

Whatever the venue, you still have shady bidders and sellers.
I personally know of one car that "sold" for a robust amount on BAT but was never paid for. No BAT games involved; no misrepresentation by seller. Just a flakey bidder.

Lots of BAT imposters out there with no real following.
Shill bidders to get up to reserve is the oldest auction manipulation in the book. Obviously in that case there were no real bidders "in the room". |

pCar is the creation of these guys and a bunch of their friends.
After scoring tons of cars pre boom, they built pCar to unload their collections although hold the rare ones. Tried buying a 356 from them and have some knowledge of their games. Of course this is MO and my speculation as I have learned during the Impeachment coverage. |

Pretty much all the cars on Pcar are owned by the CCS or maybe customer cars of theirs, or it appears as if that's the case.

PCarMarket is pretty shady. I caught a couple of cars being auctioned that then all of a sudden disappear from their site, suspiciously enough all of them were having low offers. Coincidence?

Received this email from Pcar market:
I'm reaching out to see if you would consider listing your Porsche on PCARMARKET's all-Porsche Online Marketplace. Over 250 cars have sold in the past 10 months, proving the success of our 7-day auction format. PCARMARKET allows you to eliminate tire-kickers, increase your car's exposure to a targeted Porsche audience, and increases the ease of selling a vehicle.* |

I recieved the same. Wonder who is selling our email addresses? Hopefully not PCA, my guess would be IB.

They have an 87 coupe listed now that looks straight and clean. Supposed rebuild. I just have zero faith in the website.
