5K is the new 1K. Meaning I’d start at 10K and look for something old and loud. Probably a station wagon circa 1970.

I would have to be paid a lot more than $5K to drive either a Miata or a Boxster, and even then, a two-bagger arrangement would be required!

914, paid $1500 running and driving, take it to the autocross and find the redline!

Yea, because it's realistic to buy a $1500 914 that runs.
Totally pointless post except to self-promote your flipper business.
Please spare us from your constant cut and pasting.
It wore thin years ago. Stop it already.

Your cut and paste wore thin 2 years ago. Stop it already.
Oh, you can find a running 914 for under $5000, but you might have to get off your arse, and stop whining on chat rooms. Take it from a guy who has logged about 4000 miles in the last month, the cars don't come to you.

Sugardope,
I'm pretty sure we could take up a collection and raise that amount to never get you to post again.

No arguments here, yes, flipping cars is hard work. No one ever denied that you're a hustler. I know a lazy flipper who waits days and lets deals escape, and sent him an article you wrote to motivate him. The one where you drove thru a snow storm to lock down a flip before anyone else got to the underpriced car.

Must be Lynchburg, VA or it would be closer to 6000 miles and come with a DWI.

I don't think you understand how my business works. I rarely if ever buy cars that are advertised and the people who call me do so for a variety of reasons.
1. They don't want to deal with the public.
2. They very much value their privacy, i.e. they don't want anyone to look at their whole collection if they just want to quietly sell a couple of cars.
3. They know me and trust me, many people I deal with I've dealt with before, or I came highly recommended by someone they trust.

So rarely am I running to get to a car before anyone else and it's not underpriced if someone knows they are selling it to a guy for re-sale, but value their privacy higher than selling retail to the general public.

There are flippers who watch every classified ads like hawks and jump on every good deal, and go around grinding the price on every seller. I do neither, more often than not I pay the asking price for a car, or I make an offer which is usually accepted, except for a couple of times in recent memory where I made an offer and the seller lowered it because they thought I was offering too much, true story!

Case in point, the car I bought yesterday in Lynchburg was a widow, she got my name from a trusted friend. I made an offer on the car which she quickly accepted, I think it was way higher than she thought the car was worth, I call that a good deal for everybody, don't you?
