911 70T Coupe Value
Experienced friends, I’m considering purchasing a 2 owner 1970T in Bahia Red (1 respay) and beige leatherette interior in excellent condition. No rust. Solex carbs just rebuilt. New brake pads, calipers rebuilt, all fluids just changed, new spark plugs and newly replaced front tie rods. Car is said to have smooth shifting. 126,000 total miles with 26,000 on new 2.4L NON matching number engine.
Can anyone give me a reasonable guesstimate as to price range? As always thank you for your wisdom. |
targa or coupe?

Depending on a whole host of issues you need to address, could be $45, could be $55, maybe more if it's just right. Just not enough info to go deep into an analyses. |

With matching numbers, maybe more. Non-matching, meh. 3.0? Now we're talking. |
Yeah, they on crack at $75k. $55k, maybe.

Solex carbs?? Sure your not confusing them with the Zeniths that were on the 73 ROW 2.4? 60K tops, for someone who really falls
In love with it. |

Man, I'd like to learn more about your 69 lightweight! |
Yes. Solex on this. I believe the switch to Weber was mid year 1970 no?
These prices you guys speak of are interesting as I am unable to find any car in the tea range in the 50s. Everything seems to be in the mid-60s or higher and even then most or not as well conditioned or serviced as I would like. Are there specific classifieds which I should be looking at other than here, PCA, Hemmings classics, auto trader classics??? Thx |
Couple of strikes keep this from being a $75,000 car.
1. It's red, that the hardest one to sell, a red 911, in 1985 yes, in 2020 nope. 2. Non-Matching engine. Not that this wouldn't be a great car, but it's a $40,000-50,000 car. Also, it probably doesn't have Solex carbs, they were 65/66, then Weber, than Zenith. ---Adam |
70-71 911T had Zenith carburetors. 72-73 911T had MFI. 73.5 911T had CIS which continued on the 911 until 83.

Solex went away in the 60s.

Flynt. You’re taking about US cars. This engine is from a 911TV Euro car, which was Zenith carbed in 72, 73 & 73.5. Makes no sense why they would have backward dated a later mag case engine with a solex setup, which also had special fuel pumps driven off the chain covers
