Cheap tools=not worth it

I grabbed the wrong jack before a road trip a few weeks ago. So here I am, 1000 miles from home, looking for the plug that flew out of my cheap HF jack, damn you Harbor Freight! Don't buy cheap tools!

Nothing wrong with HF jacks.

Nope, I didn't see this pic until a week after it was taken. Maybe you stage your life, I don't, it just happens.

Do you even know how to use a jack sug? They can be a little trickier than a set of jumper cables.

guy throws rocks with half the membership on his ignore list. when I was a kid we called that "dishing it out, but not taking it".

I love HF and Northern Tool. I’ve had very few issues with things I’ve bought there.

I'm actually a big fan of HF, but you have to be selective on what you buy there, some of it is great, some is complete junk. It's also when to use it. Had the jack plug blown at the shop, I would have gotten a new plug and kept rolling, or used another jack. But 1000 miles from home, not optimum timing.

He’s got a video for everything. Here’s Suga using an ugga ugga to break loose lugs. Like and follow.

HF jacks are known to be excellent. They don't just pop off their fill plugs. Has nothing to do with HF junk. I'll bet you topped off the hydraulic oil and hand tighten the plug since the socket was not in immediate reach. Then you forgot about it.

Never touched the plug, was jacking the car and watched it fly away. The jack is now scrap.

If you read page 4 of the manual, you're supposed to top off the oil before using the
jack. That is when you fully tighten it down. The plug may have come loose during the long car ride.

Dude, I can say this with all honestly, this is actually good advice, if you stopped being such a S*&T starting D*&K all the time, you might actually get along with people on this board and be able to participate in discussions and the like. Food for thought, I don't need a response.

Maybe take the fat profit from that 356 and buy a better quality jack? Maybe two so you have a spare?

Reading fail. He already said if he wasn’t on the road he would have just grabbed another. I don’t take two on the road with me. Do you?

Amateurs.

Rawknees'Turbo 02-29-2020 06:05 PM

That's one way to add some power and acceleration to a 356 - hook a tow strap to the bisch!

It will be months before I get to this coupe, a whole yard ahead of it.

That comment was tongue in cheek. The last time I extracted a vehicle, a 66 bus that had been in the woods for 40 years, I brought my jack and forgot the handle. I solved that problem by using a pry bar as a jack handle. Shortly after that the solenoid failed on my harbor freight winch so we did what any redneck would do and hooked the bus up to the rear bumper of the property owners 78 F250 with a 460. He engaged 4wd, goosed the throttle and it slid sideways into a tree and bent his bumper. I came back the next weekend better prepared!
