Would you buy a car with damage reported on Carfax?

Looking at a 2012 C2S, very nicely optioned.
Priced about where it should be.
Damage reported 2x.
Rear bumper once, front bumper other time.
Would have to buy remotely.

Yes. I have bought salvage title also.

PPI the car especially a 2012 because it can be done at a dealer easily.

how early on in the car's existence was the damage? been a long time since i looked at a carfax, but isn't the service provider listed? check on the shops that did the repairs, google, yelp and so forth if included in the report.

Cars get scratched bumpers. Get the repair paperwork and review it.

Two accidents and you're considering buying long distance, sight unseen?
Think again, my friend.

Yep, this happened to my wife, not once, not twice, but three times.

Late model Jetta TDI 6 speed manual, she would stall it and be lightly bumped in the rear by a driver following too close. The damage was only a new bumper cover repair (because of the creased plastic).

After the third hit and 100k trouble free miles, I gave up and sold it. I have missed that economical and very handy wagon ever since.

Bottom line, have someone who knows bodywork check the chassis before you buy - it could be very little damage, or you might find something major that wasn’t even on the carfax report...

Exactly. My wife got hit twice in lots in her Outback. Happened just last week to the Tiguan while she was parked at funeral. No dents or cracks, but substantial paint transfer.

seems like the common problem in this thread here is having a wife...

Here's something to keep in mind. A rear end hit on these "newer" 911's can be just a bump, or it can end up being severe frame damage and require extensive repair. You need to request information on the damage and make a judgement call. There is a popular Rennlist thread about rear fender bender damage on a 2013. Here's the thread below, and I'm including pictures from the thread in case it's not reachable. You would have never suspected that a minor visible damage to a bumper cover would end up with $30k in frame repair. Would you consider this car for purchase if you saw the picture of damage from the accident - but no other evidence?

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/760365-so-you-think-it-s-just-a-bumper-job-huh.html

Slight crease in bumper is visible near the plate -

Bumper cover removed - impact bar is damaged and crushed -

Frame damage -

Repair requires engine removal and fixture use -

Always conside the exit... if you're questioning it, future buyers will as well. Price accordingly.
