What happened? Price issues on BAT
Hi everyone
I'm sure a few people were following my auction on bat Re 1972 911T outlaw build. The car was listed here for some time. The auction had a huge amount of watchers 1350 and over 22k views. Chatter was good, no real negatives etc. The following week a 69 build went to 110k RNM. After all that my car fizzled out at $78.5k just under $10k below my $90k reserve. I was confused to say the least. Was it a location factor? Is it all about displacement?? Color? I've attached some links , what am I missing? $78.5k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-porsche-911-10/ $110k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-porsche-911-15/ $117k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-porsche-911-t-e/ $50k converted race car ..that wasn't really converted https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-porsche-911-11/ 70k old build https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-porsche-911t-19/ $105k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-porsche-911t-16/

Needed an Urban Outlaw sticker and some Livery.
![]() Seriously I think a professional photographer would have helped. The car, angle of the pictures and setting don't pop like the two hire priced cars.

Id agree with that...but to the tune of $30k
People can't see past that and look at the real details?

The more I look at it, marketing and location could be more vital than build specs.

Yea. BAT buyers are 100% emotional buyers. They couldn't care less about the mechanics. If it doesn't look cool they move on.
If it looks cool then they can justify the purchase price with the details later. Sales 101. Tom Hopkins. The art of selling anything. And for what it's worth; I think the car is awesome.

Great looking car, totally agree that picture background makes a huge difference. People want to see themselves in the forest, in the city, somewhere interesting. Not in front of a shipping container.

Agree with many of the opinions listed above but think location was the biggest factor. Even though its been well discussed that bringing a car south from Canada is not a massive undertaking there are many that just don't want the added hassle. Beautiful build nonetheless, if you ever want to send it out to California and sell it Ill be happy to offer up a garage spot and drive it around for you

When someone does import this into California (which is were I think it will end up) They could make a nice profit!

I'd say it had more to do with color. IMHO yellow is not top choices. Importing from Canada factored in as well. Keep marketing it...you'll eventually get what it deserves.

It’s a yellow Canadian car with a 2.5 in it.
Not a 2.7, a 2.8 or a 3.3 like the cars you are trying to compare it to. Christ my TR6 at 020 over had a bigger motor. Does it go over 55? |

I took a 25% hit when I listed my E30 on there even though it was one of the nicest to cross the block there in those past few months.
Location played the biggest role in that I believe as the janky, stripped out track car in California did better than mine ![]() |

Just spitballing but the car is kind of set up like a track car and the video makes it look squirrelly on the highway in a straight line. The MFI would look better completed out. The desirability, especially in 72 models, appears to be in mostly original examples. Possible exception being unless they are finished out or at least appear as finished out as a Singer.

It's the Canadian import thing. All the way.

Easy if you live in NY. Mentally impossible if you live in TX,CA or FL.

Yes but my car is a US car originally sold in Louisiana.
It's an easy process

being serious. My take from talking to potential buyers today is the border issue. There's a lot of uncertainty with it. I've gone as far as saying if there any issue with the border I'll take the car back. It's easy for me to say because there won't be any issues
