Grady Clay Car for Sale?

I was at the Early 911S Registry and saw this thread:

FS: @samba - Grady Clay's '68

Apparently the seller has a car formerly owned by Grady Clay.

Scam or real?

From the Samba Ad *TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1968 911 Burgundy Red /Black 1 Owner Original
1968 911 Burgundy Red /Black 1 Owner Original Price: 99000 or B/O
Beautiful car that has no rust and a one owner Colorado car. Untouched from new, has original paint, plad seats, radio, XWX's, original rally roof rack and more (head lights are in a box and all parts that belong to car). The owner of this car owned a Porsche shop in the 70's. Grady Clay was his name and he was well involved in the PCA.

Car located in Estes Park, Colorado.

You can not find old 911's unrestored, so if this is what you're looking for. last registered in 1980 in Colorado

Come out and see it if you are a true buyer.

$1000 Deposit holds the car for one week. If you want to use PayPal add 3.5%. Or bank to bank free.

****The original color is Burgundy Red (6808). ****

So, its $32,000 or $99,000 depending on which site you look at? Very strange!

No, it's $99K asking price on The Samba for an outright sale, but it has reached only $32K, to date, on ebay with the auction still active and the reserve not yet met.

Nothing strange about this.

I know of Grady from his influence here, on these forums. Are there any articles or books to read about him and his work?

The note about 4 F1 drivers piloting his car is very interesting!

As far as I know there are no books on Grady, I think it was mentioned in one of the old threads that there is a lot of material making it very difficult to sort through.
If you have the time, go down the Grady Clay rabbithole on the forums, it's what I have been doing during lockdown There are some great stories and pictures by Frank Barrett too, and I'm sure there is a lot more out there.

I think a book would be a great idea, as a lot of the old guys have already left us, along with a ton of knowledge and stories about our favourite brand.
The good thing is Grady shared a lot of his knowledge here on the forums, along with the fact that he seemed to be a genuine good guy, which is becoming very rare in the Porsche world nowadays...

As for the car, the price has been adjusted a couple of times, from £115000 to £90000 and now back up again to £95000. Weird pricing strategy

Like I said, I've talked to him, never done business with him. He's a nice guy to talk to but generally people in the business of buying and selling usually can't buy from each other so no reason to make the trip way way out West, though it would probably be a fun trip.

He's weirder than most. His hatred all started with me saying that most of his cars were turds. It was meant as descriptive more than insulting, but he didn't see it that way. Some of my cars over the years have been turds. And he went on about how I knew nothing about his cars. What he failed to understand is that I had sold him several of those cars when I worked at Carquip and he just didn't remember who I was. It all came to a head one day when Pat Moyle was having a retirement garage sale and he drove down with his trailer to buy stuff. I was there too and he came up to me and tried to start a fist fight, claiming I wasn't such a big man when I wasn't on the internet, etc. More than a dozen people stopped what they were doing over the yelling. I calmly told him I wasn't going to throw down in Pat's "house" and that if he was serious, he should come outside. I went to the office, paid Pat for my stuff, apologized for the incident, and left. Then a couple days later he was here on Pelican bragging about how he put me in my place. rofl.
