Hi Ken,
Generally, “sportier” means firmer, which is not as comfortable. I went with HDs all around for a mostly high performance street application
Relatively recently, “Digressive” Valving has become popular, yielding a more comfortable ride and good control.
I have heard from very knowledgeable guys like the good Dr. Verberg, that this is the way to go.

If money isn’t a issue, then Ohlins single or double adjustables. Wevo use to sell their Wevo/Ohlins single adjustable rears (they may still be available). I’ve been running those on my 930 and turbo bus for the past 10+ years. Also ran them on our ‘75 IROC look race car.
Ohlins makes a single/double adjustable front insert to replace the Bilstiens.
