AMF Race group in the North East

Does anyone remember the AMF street racer group from the NE that started in the early 70,s.I was an early member and maybe there are a few left alive.I think the guy with Scabs on his knees would play but in Texasss I kind of doubt it.If you were a member just spell out the 2 basic rules for the street race so I know you are genuine.First is what does AMF stand for.Ok a hint.It used to be a white metal symbol of a bowling sign.2nd if you saw this symbol adorned on a car you only asked one question. What was the question? If you are close to me I will buy your dinner then we deal with the 2nd question.Hint only drivers with ballz need to answer.Everyone else just scratch your head and say really? We are about to split the age group here.Lets have fun.Maybe NY Nick remembers.Ciao Fred

I remember AMF. They had their HQ on Rte. 287 in White Plains. American Machine and Foundry, a recreation company, bowling included, I think they made pinsetters.

I also remember the saying "If you can beat me you can ....." on the unknown blonds Corvette. Drag racing only.

Heres' a hint to the answer to #2:

Rather than Ciao, I'll just say "Adios...", my friend. You fill in the rest.

Do I get dinner?

Amf

You are mostly correct Nick.so I would buy dinner.AMF sign on the car meant Adios Mother Focker and the question asked was how much to race for on a planned group of roads to the end. Friends would hold the money and 1st one there got it.These were a loose group from Morristown,Mendham,Bernardsville and Far hills area. The other AMF group was drag racing and if you beat the Blonde you could have her.Oh my.This was mid 70,s.Come to Pinehurst NC Nick and have dinner.

That line "If you can beat me you can ....." is also used in the Gumball Rally with the two ladies in the Porsche Targa.

I wonder if they got it from the AMF crew...
