Got to F over a flipper today.
Not a Porsche sale, but a tent trailer we don’t use anymore. Good 2002 18’, slide out, bath, fully loaded unit.
Listed it last night for cheap. $3,400.00 I got countless emails. Started calling in order this am. The first email met me at the trailer and I had a feeling. Little guy in Khaki shorts and polo shirt. I get the impression he’s never been camping. He starts trying to offer less. I say no and grab my phone, “should I call the next guy?” He points out he would want to change the flooring. I ask,” really on a $3400 trailer you want nicer linoleum?” He says it’s added cost for him so I should work with him. Then I straight ask, “are you a dealer or flipper?” He lies and says no. So I tell him, “3200 right now.” He says,”ok deal” As I’m downloading the paperwork from DMV he starts asking if I have any classic cars or work trucks I want to sell. He buys other things too, bla bla bla. Ha, busted... I can’t seem to find the title. Must have left it at home. :D I’ll call you later and we’ll finish up. He leaves, I call the next guy. He shows with wife, kids and grandpa. Done deal! Trailer went to a family like it should. Called the flipper and told him I sold it to a family and he’s a fooking liar. Sold it in one day? That's a win no matter what.
Good deal! |
Well done. Actually you should have told the flipper "IT'S THE FREE MARKET, BABY!"

Did the family pay full price?

I don’t get the whole anti-flipper thing. As long as he pays your ask, why would you care what he does with it. When a buyer comes to me with a story, I politely tell them to save the story for bedtime. I want a price that is fair to me, I could care less about someone’s dream vehicle. When I was selling my Alfa, a guy from Florida came to see it. He gave me a story that I honestly did not want to hear. He kept saying how far apart “we” were. I told him “we” are not far apart...but it was he who was far apart. He kindly left after a few tries. A year or so later I’m on YouTube and I see a video with the guy in it. He owns a classic car dealer in Miami. I laughed it off. In the end I got my full ask. The buyer put $5-7k into it and sold the car for $30k more than what I sold it for. He called me before he sold it. Guess what, I was happy for him. It is what it is.

Yes; full price. He actually was the 4th email. But he was local and sent an email this morning offering $200.00 more than ask. So he became the 2nd person I called. Sold it to him for asking price. I didn’t take the extra. $3,400 is probably $1k under market. I just wanted it gone. Mission accomplished. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Nice work Derrick!

Its not that people are 100% against flippers- its that many flippers are dishonest about their intentions. If they pay my ask what do I care, I care because I would rather get my ask from someone who always gets beat out by the flipper and truly wants what I am selling.
Its my dream car, buying it for my wife, looking for a father , son project etc etc.flipper lies and guys stopping by my house if garage door is open has been nonstop last couple of years. Guy last night saw my 75 carrera in the driveway, asked if i wanted to sell. i asked what the car was , he paused....said a turbo.. told him know what you are buying before you barge in on someone. Flippers can make many anyway they want - I chose not to do business with them |
But Deez, did you take the exchange to the next level and text the guy a dix pic?!?!

Exactly, I was going to respond to speedinme1 with the same opinion. I don’t care if you make a buck. But don’t lie to me and treat me like a sucker. I know that person would have laughed about the sucker he duped later. It was a good deal from the start. Why lie and be a douche. That’s the reason people hate flippers. They are liars. Who respects or accepts that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When I sell I want it gone. All I care about.
If it can be flipped good on them. If I sell too cheap who should I blame? |

Flippers just try to buy a car a quickly for a good price. You want to get put through the ringer by an end user? Just like people who trade in cars to dealers. They don't want to deal with the BS. Flippers usually make quick cash deals and that is very convenient to most sellers. Having a problem with a flipper fundamentally is childish and stupid. Having a problem with lies and polished turds is very understandable.
