PCARMARKET Head Scratcher

Does anyone have an explanation for this auction on pcarmarket? It just sold post auction for 275k, but it had 4 different bidders at or above that amount during the live auction. In less than a month since the auction ended it sold for 23k less than its highest bid. Huh?

Is this as shady as it looks? Or is there some other legitimate explanation for it?

Were there three shill bidders or just three guys bidding that didn't think the car would sell for under $300k? Interesting either way.

The car has the most pretentious name for Silver I have ever seen.

Edit. I wonder if the advertised price is just backup for avoiding some taxes. I have never listed the correct purchase price on DMV paperwork that wasn't from a dealer. Who would?

It would actually be 4 shill bidders, the buyer post auction didn’t even bid on it. If that is the case, then it would make this nothing more than a ‘staged auction’ at that point for the viewers’ enjoyment.

I am shocked--shocked, I say--that pcarmarket conducted a shady transaction!

Still, cool car.

So maybe the P in their name is a double entendre, it stands for both Porsche and Posing, since this seems to have been a posed auction.

It says final offer...not the sold price. Two different things. It may have sold for much more. Not the best auction site.

The car sold for 275k. The platform they use sucks compared to BaT, thus the confusion, but it did sell at that price. Or so the website says at least.

And you think that part is more or less accurate than all the rest?
Asking for a friend...

I was simply correcting someone’s erroneous statement that it didn’t sell per the website. The whole thing looks shady to me.

That was a Canepa car. The sites main page says final offer...the results page says sold for $275k, so which one is it...sold or final offer? Neither of us is right or wrong unless we contact pca market and get the facts.

Rey, you’re making this a head scratcher within a head scratcher. Their auction website platform is total sh|t, thus you’re confusion, but there are 3 different places on the car’s auction page where it says sold...

Maybe LloydChristmas saw my thread on this car and then questioned it, which pcarmarket surprisingly responded to.

Does anyone really believe that all 4 bidders during the auction had “already moved on” after only 3 weeks or so? Of course they did, that’s what shill bidders do.

This website is like the equivalent of a pump and dump brokerage firm, they create all sorts of fake demand and then sell into it.

I agree...there are fishy things going on over there.

I wouldn’t say a Subaru,
But I agree all the aero on the new GTs is ruining the clean lines Porsche is known for.

My guess is the guys who run that site had good intentions when they started it. They saw how well BAT was doing and tried to carve out a piece of the market. Sadly in my opinion you simply cannot trust a thing on that site. Again, its just my opinion but there have been so many questionable auctions. Comments removed, you cant see anyone's history anymore, cars relisted right away and on an on. Shilling is obviously okay there too. Sad.
