$20k classic F/G model 911 / 912

Both myself and my friend have recently picked up $20k classic porsche to import to the UK, comparable prices in the UK are at least £5-10k more (assuming you can find a comparable car, I am a big fan of the survivor / patina over resto jobs!)

I received mine recently, it needs a bit of work but looks like a decent rolling resto project (I am still waiting for registration plate and will reserve judgement until it is up in the air at my local specialist) I am under no illusion that the bills won't mount up quickly however it was the only way I could get my foot in the door and hopefully a very long-term relationship.

I am interested in other people's opinion and finds at the cheaper end of the market.

Due to the distance and access to the market oversees 'online' buyers like myself are generally going to be restricted to craigslist, ebay, BAT and specialist forums such as this so will unlikely pick up the true bargains.

Know exactly what you write.
Allready looking for more than a year to find a low budget 911 or 912 targa in the states . Up till now fruitless.
Jealous of stories they found a porsche around the corner or just standing abandoned.
Still hoping....

Greetings from Belgium

Yes it is a shame, not everyone is only interested in the 50k+ cars!

I don't think that's true at all. The OP was interested in opinions on those finds at the cheaper end of the market. He got few replies because there are fewer of those finds occurring.

I'd be thrilled to see more people buying air cooled 911s at under $20K. There may be a little more traction over in the Tech forum, too.

I have a really nice 71 Targa for 20k Usd. I would help ship to Europe and I've shipped there before. I'm actually surprised it's not sold.

Garage
My brother in-law bought a 1976 911s, non-sunroof, original narrow body unaltered, no rust, matching 2.7 & 915 but non-running for $15.5k a year ago. It actually looks just like the picture you have posted except it has original Fuchs and has original cloth interior.

The car will need all new interior, new paint, new clutch, new struts and engine rebuilding (condition of transmission is still unknown). I consider this a good deal still.
