Porsche Dealers

I am on the hunt for my first 911 and been looking for awhile as my handle might indicate. I have noticed just looking at Ebay Motors like many of us like to do there is this particular dealer called Beverly Hill Car Club and they have quite a bit of inventory. I am always disappointed by the lack of detail in the ads. Anyone had any dealings with these folks? I really feel like there are so many Porsche car flippers out there trying to make a buck off someone like me that it is quite intimidating. Maybe I am wrong?

Thanks in advance, Brian

Use the search function- there are a TON of threads on that outfit. The conclusion is that it’s hard to get a good deal there. Better to be patient and seek a private deal.

Do yourself a favor and buy the seller as much as the car. My .02, I would probably avoid BHC.

Look at the PCA marketplace. Wide selection of models , conditions and may be a good source of education for you.

Good luck in your search

Thanks for the responses. The Porsche world is very interesting and a little scary but looks rewarding. I am a GenX'er so I grew up loving the 911 and came close to buying one when I first started working and making money. I went with a BMW 540i since I need a daily driver and did not think an older 911 was practical at that time. I guess they never are practical so that is what makes them great.

I will be ready to get one after we do some work to our house is the plan so about 18 months out.

I am about 18 months out from buying one. I really am leaning towards a 74- 83 driver car that I can work on and tinker with. I really like the 74 - 77 narrow body but would be fine with an SC as well and has to be a coupe. My price range will be around the 25K to 35k I am really excited. I drove a 1991 C4 back in 1992 one evening when the young owner (rich kid) had to many drinks and I will never forget it. Awesome!! I was like 19 years old.

No offense 4kids...but have you tracked prices lately....25-35 may get you a mid-70"s car that needs $12k worth of work....even the 3.2 80's cars are 46 - 63 now......

4Kids...you've come to the right place. People can be a little harsh around here sometimes, but we're all car guys and many are glad to help. You need to come up to speed on the different years, engines, problems etc, but it's all out there.

Your budget is low but that's ok. Spend the next 12 months learning and looking, getting involved and getting to know your local PCA guys. The more you learn the better off you'll be.

Good luck. I'm rooting for you!

speedster911 01-17-2021 01:41 PM

If your patient I think you can find a 74+ in your budget range.

Not sure if the early 2000's interest you but more safety features/ creature comforts and in your budget.

When you find a car or two that your interested in, we are here to help. Good luck in your search and look forward to you sharing photos of your new ride.

Oh yea, I have been tracking prices and it is amazing. I am not sure if it is my generation raising these prices up because we all grew up as kids loving that classic looking 911 and now some of us have money? The good news is I do not really want a perfect car. I want to work on it with my son and just drive it. I am actually drawn to cars that need love and saving which is usually more expensive in the long run but really fun and rewarding.

I do realize that I am the guy that all the dealers are looking for. A guy in his mid 40's that always wanted a 911, here he comes , get him!

Thanks for all the comments and advise! Glad I found this forum.

Thank you for the response. Glad I found the Forum! Would this car be a joke? For some reason I am drawn to cars like this. The dent does not bother me, haha

That’s an ambitious ask imo. But it’s bhcc and you’ve already been ... informed ... about their rep.

What about the rust above it? It’s worse than it looks and would be very costly to address properly

These guys have a sketchy reputation for selling anything that rolls, regardless of condition. Be careful.
