anybody know this car?

been looking into GT3's of the 996 variant and have run across this one wondering if anybody has seen it around here on pelican for sale previously? the reason i ask is it's had 8 owners! seems to have made at least a couple cross country trips for differing owners in CA, NJ and now FLA. still pretty low mileage at 57k... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1082676-2004-gt3-blk-blk.html

figure it seen some track duty due to the seats, harnesses and rollbar. im pretty sure the guy selling it is a "dealer" cause he seems to have a number of cars for sale regularly. all opinions welcome on this car.

Nice car and very transparent ad; I’ve also heard good things about the seller.

rennlist is a good place to post a " do you know this car" . They tend to be a good water pumper resource.

It look familiar and sounds like it has my LSD rebuild in it. I’ve posted it on FB looking for the former owner.

yep, im aware. i frequented there quite a bit the 10 months i owned the 03 996TT i had after my spec911. funny thing is i hated the TT while i owned it, but in hind sight it would be a way better car up where i am now than my 75.

ive gotten a heads up on a couple of "rumored" things away from here on the car that has cooled any interest. plus, ive got to sell my car before i do any real looking anyway, but the price seemed low with the stated miles. since im just starting to look this was not really an option anyway. some wheels are turning on the sale of the 75 so that's the reason i started noodling things around some. i may scrap the p-car thing completely and go with a WRX when it's all said and done.

The dents in the roof are weird. Any insight on that?

Climb out and put your helmet on it not so carefully.

not having any insight on the car specifically the welded coolant lines can be a tell as to whether it's had a lapping past not even considering the seats, harnesses and rollbar. having the lines done does not declare it's been a track car, but one w/o the lines done is much less likely to have done a bunch laps. as i recall from my research during my TT ownership a number of track groups would not admit the TT or GT3 cars unless the lines were done.

im in no position at this moment to need to make room in the garage for a GT3, but they've always been a dream car of mine since they arrived. i tried the TT as a 1/2 the cost substitute for one to fulfill my dreams, but it did not fit the bill. i should prolly fly to FLA to drive one.

Why would you own that car and not track it? Seriously buy a turbo for christ sake

I've had several and they are made to drive at speeds you cannot drive on the street and are the most fun you can have with your pants on
They are not dainty flowers they are cup cars with an interior

or i guess you could wax it

He's already owned a 996T. And used to race a Spec911. He knows what he's buying and how to drive it. I think he mostly doesn't want someone else's neglected can of worms.

oh danny, of course you've had several! read the thread before you go all soapbox up in here. it's like you are storming the capital in a buffalo horned hat, paint on your face and taking not a single prisoner.

ive spent time in street cars on the track, and track cars on the street. in sweats, socks and crocks, or in nomex, a HANS and a helmet with no horns i got this... id prolly point you by if id see ya in my mirror... right?

Two years ago I would not understand this. I got my first GT3 a year ago and was confused how the clutch had already been replaced with only 18K on the ODO.
The car does not like taking off from a stop; especially on a hill.
The only vehicle I've stalled or slipped the clutch in more was a 70 Bronco on the Rubicon.

id have appreciated the insight you shared if it had less of an edge, and you had read the thread up to the point you commented. i clearly stated i owned a turbo previously and did not care for it much.

regarding the street manners of these cars that's great info to be considered. appreciate your intent, and you too deez. i likely would not be tracking a car again as im now way too far from any of the no cal tracks, and after wheel to wheel racing i don't think simply turning laps would excite me like it once did. the upside to the rural area im in there are miles and miles of twisty roads that a car like the GT3 could be fun on. not any stop n go traffic or even stop lights in my area.

Everything ads up to it being tracked. With 8 owners, EIGHT, the car screams for an over rev report and detailed in person inspection.
