Value of '68 911l Soft window targa?
I have onwed since 1975 .. is a sporto with original motor and trans.
In unmolested original condition. I haven't run this in 10 years or so... is not seized I turn it over but I am not going to start it up with going thru the chain tensioner and cleaning out the webers and fuel system. Mileage is right around 100K original. Paint is mostly faded, with patina unbelly is good, royal blue with red interior an original unmolested SWB car. I have all the parts to convert to a manual trans but could never brong myself to it.. it sounded so sweet and hey its 130 hp so not a modern rocket ship by any means... sporto was cool and unusual. Also has factory air and rear parcel shelf complete with leather straps etc. What do you think I should ask for it ? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RRcDElxvcRJo5Rj-PgmmRWbOAMgFssnk/view?usp=sharing Pictures soon.. Thx. |
The sporto hurts it significantly but the color certainly helps. For a project like this, condition and originality are going to be huge factors. Photos would help for valuation.

My guess is $75,000 to $100,000 as described..... value will be higher if running.....

I can't speak for the price value myself. I know a guy in Norway who has a SWB in that color (coupe). I haven't spoken with him in a couple years and his is manual. I'm interested in the Sporto aspect myself since I have a LWB 69E Sporto in light ivory Dealer car here. The guy in Norway also has a Mitsuwa Japanese dealer car 72'MY? He's keen on those Mitsuwa dealer cars. He has some web site dedicated to that. Your color made me think of him, but something makes me remember his is some kind of lavender blue.

Seen here in the late 80s.. will post some newer photos.. |
Are you 100% sure it's Royal Blue? Paternie and Long don't show it available for 1968 model year. Any chance it could be Ossi Blue or Metallic Blue?

Cool Photos ... great color.. I would like to restore it..
|
Yes, i stand corrected and you are right.. it is Ossi with a red interior. All these years for some reason I thought Royal.. but is Ossi. Thank you.

I Like the blue with red interior. That's a cool car.
|
D@mn that is a nice car. It would be worth pulling it out of the garage and getting it running.....
$10,000 invested in getting it driving and polished would return an extra $50,000.... of course that is analysis from a picture.... |
