1987 - 911 - White Cabrio - 100k Miles - Price?

In my quest for another air cooled I ran across a 100K mile, white / burgundy cabriolet. All original paint with a couple small dings but overall in great condition. Interior is excellent conditions. Seats, door cards, carpets, controls, etc. show little sign of wear. Owner installed a new top, lens all around, headlight bulbs. Car has 7/8 polished fuchs. Has the third brake light.d

Car drives super solid. Acceleration is strong and steady, great brake, new clutch and smooth G50 shifts. No smoke on start up or idle. Suspension is tight and cruises on the highway without effort. Looks to have an after market exhaust but exhaust note is normal sounding without any harshness.

All original and owner has nearly $20k of receipts. Looks very well maintained. While not a coupe for a convertible it is excellent. Car is garaged.

I am working with owner on a sale. Looking for a good idea of pricing. My thoughts are $45k - $50K ish. Would welcome your opinion.

I think you are in the ballpark going into the spring.

Closer to $45,000 with 100,000 miles.

Cabs have gotten stronger but normally w/ less mileage.

I have a white 87 Cab for sale with 105K miles, but some performance mods (cams, ECU) that would sell at $50-ish. So I'd say high $40s for your candidate.

I saw that listing and thought the car was sold. Great looking car with all the right history and work.

UPDATE: Turns out the car has 260K miles. Carfax shows 239K documented miles 6 years ago and owner says 21K miles on new odometer. My mechanic says the car runs well but will need a top end in the not too distant future.

I still like the car and I am not afraid of high miles, however, the price has to be right. Thinking low $30K's due to mileage and engine needs.

Thoughts on price based on new information would be appreciated.

Low $30s makes sense. In my experience, at that mileage you can expect some maintenance issues like rear wheel bearings (kinda pricey) and front torsion bar bushings. And of course, a "top end" can turn into a 'while you're in there' spending scenario...

From a forward planning standpoint, I always tell the people I'm advising that if you buy a 200K-mile 911, expect it's yours forever. The pool of buyers for high mileage 911s is not large.

Upper 20s, low 30s max. And I’d only buy the car if you’re planning on keeping it like the previous guy said. Personally, I’d look around more. If you’re willing to spend 45-50k for a cab, I’d think you’d have a lot of options out there w a lot less miles, a lot less future maintenance, and something u could resale and at least make your $$ back. But that’s just me.

This has been said a million times on here. If you have the $45k find a better car with lower miles.
That $10/15k savings now will disappear quick.

Thanks all. As usual, great advice. Not committed to "forever" so onward to other possibilities.

@996AE - PM me with information and a picture of the car. Interested. Mileage of 150k is okay with me. Thanks.

How did you go from thinking it had 100k to then 260k? Did the seller misrepresent the car?

It was advertised as a 100K car. When I saw the car it had 49k on the odometer. I asked how he knew it had 100K given the odometer - he said it was actually higher.

He never came clean on the obvious deceit in the ad only to say the odometer was changed before he bought the car and it had high miles when he bought it. I calculated the actual mileage based on an old Car Fax report from the owner.

A shady seller - a nice looking car - the dishonesty is a head scratcher.
