Question To All Houston Porschephiles

Hi Texans,
I'm in San Diego and interested in this Guards Red '87 Carrera at Auto Mobiles.
There seems to be a questionable title history. A calif title shows clean but the car was auctioned at some point, spent a few years in Florida which is known for Title Washing (cleaning up salvaged titles and making them clean again), and has a none matching engine. The dealer has clean title but no other paperwork or service records of the car.
Cars been for sale for something like 400 days.

And the dealer wont let the car leave the shop for inspection, but welcomes mechanics to inspect it on site.

Do any of you know this car????

Does anyone know of a good Porsche mobile inspector?

All seems like red flags to me, or am I just being paranoid?

Thank you, appreciate input.
Cole

That's not the stock engine- looks newer (993?)
No A/C compressor
Where are the front trunk carpets?
Interior leather has been "treated" to the nth degree.
Get a good tech to check it out!

thanks for the feedback touringmandan,
Yea seller says its a 3.6 out of a 1990 964, for better or worse.
I'm working on getting him to let it out of his shop for inspection. He will only allow on site PPIs.
I was wondering about the carpet too. front fender had paint work done as well as hood, so probably got thrown out during repair.

$60,000 for a car with no history and wrong motor, I don't think you need a PPI to make that call.

Yea I know the smog is a problem, originally I was only considering 1975s and earlier, I'd ride my bike to work a few times a week to save the planet, If I could just not have to deal with those D@mn smog checks.

Too many issues. Better off finding a car someone loved...... Keep an eye on the Pelican car sales one will pop up sooner than you think..... especially in the ever popular Guards Red.
