Looking to put my '88 on BAT
I was going to post my '88 911 coupe on BAT last year but thought I would wait another year and see if I drove anymore ... I did not, so it's going on BAT.
Should I get a set of '88 original Fuchs and put them back on the car? I have access to a set of original '88 Fuchs in excellent condition but I have to pay top $$. Is it worth it for the sale, will I loose bidders based on not having Fuchs? I personally fell in love with the with the old school BBS wheels. Thoughts? ![]() |

Those wheels have seen a major resurgence in popularity. If it were me selling, I would just leave them.
Or, list them for sale prior to selling the car. If they can offset the price of the Fuchs, it might be worth the hassle.

Nice car. What size Fuchs do you have a line to? 6/7 or 7/8 x16”? I think original Fuchs will yield more than their cost (particularly if you offset by selling the bbs).
Red Carerra speaks to such a large audience and so many first time buyers on BaT conditioned to think it has to be OG. Serve that up to them so you have more people bidding at the death. Do that, and crazy things can happen |

I would sell with BBS but line up the Fuchs and list having them. They are easy to find now that you can buy them through Porsche (example.... Suncoast Porsche)
I even have a set of 6&7 X 16s in my basement.

If I could do the switch for less than 1500 I’d do it. I own both and prefer the BBS wheels but when I sell it will definitely have the Fuchs on it.

I’d go with Fuchs. There’s a large group of people who care about them.
I’d also get color matching headlight rings put in there. The chrome looks out of place on an ‘88 and it’s an extremely easy thing to correct. They’re just covers that go over the chrome and it doesn’t cost much to get something that small painted. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It sounds like the more original the car looks the better especially when listing on BAT. I should probably put the original steering wheel back on too, a Momo is on it at the moment which is way better IMO. Its 3k for the Fuchs set (7/8) I am looking at so that is why I am hesitating a bit.

I'm not an expert on BBS values, but I'm pretty sure they are worth more off the car than on. An original or "stock plus" car will bring the most money for the car unless it's a full on hotrod.
Add Fuchs (6/7 are original and much cheaper than 7/8) and some guards red trim rings on the H4s and I think you will net the most. Also list the BBS as a separate auction, they seem to bring good money. Momo wheel is neutral if you have the original and maybe a plus if Prototipo.

Just an FYI one of the questions BaT asks is "has the car been advertised for sale anywhere else"....

4 weeks is not bad. It was worse for some in 2020.

can't beat stock! You won't get $1 more if you throw in the BBS. Sell them separately

It's crazy how much wheels can affect the value of these cars. You likely would get more money out of it than you would put in just to add replica Fuchs.

BAT bidders want 'turnkey.'
Meaning nothing left to do. So yes, switching to Fuchs will likely pay dividends.

I would put stock Fuchs with good tires on the car and sell the rims on BAT as well
