Too Good To Be True - zipper window targa

Do these photos look familiar?

1968 Porsche 912 soft window targa barn find Price: 15000

I'm not in the market, just curious.

Would not this be worth a lot more than asking price?

IMHO, not too good to be true.
1) Raising Lazarus from the dead
2) 912, not 911
3) Missing drivetrain

Matt Monson 07-24-2021 07:59 AM

Just a car for sale.

912 soft window targa

I think it could be a very nice driver - a 912 soft window targa with a nice original color combo. Rust is the big question, mechanicals should be no problem.

In the era of $75k 914’s…it looks like a fair buy to me.

I was just looking at that. Wasn’t suspicious at all

kach22i 07-25-2021 10:24 PM

Thanks all, would be too good to be true if a 911 zipper window?

Must have been a leaky barn, hey?

Yes, 911's soft windows would be at least double that. I just sold this one for $30,000.

Keep looking !

matt930s 08-04-2021 05:52 AM

Really amazing to see the rear plastic window and targa top intact.

And apparently , there's more to the story:

Looks like Runge, not the builder in MN, another Runge. He's in Millerton, NY I think, near the CT border. Nice dude, his son is real good with the Celette Bench. He doesn't like selling so when he does, he usually gets all the money.
