Selling a car
Hey guys looking for opinions
I plan to thin the herd and sell 1-2 cars Sell on Pelican PCA Pcarmarket Cars and bids Bat Local Craigslist First site that comes to mind is BAT because of the amount of exposure. However, the turn around is longer and I hear they are getting very particular about cars. I also started a submission on BAT and discovered one of the first questions that is asked “has it been listed for sale elsewhere”. I could only guess if so it is disqualified from BAT. So where to start and where to list. Thanks again

My 2 cents, definitely not craigslist, which is a cesspool, not as bad as Facebook marketplace which is now the worst bottom feeder breeding ground, but still totally unworthy of $100k cars.
I would go with BaT. They may be picky but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't turn down a 991 and a turbo Targa unless there is some bad history. I think the Bat question means "do you have active listings for the car somewhere else", which you logically are not supposed to have, so I think you should be good as long as you're happy to wait for a while for them to put it up. |

I think Craigslist is a great option for a 2009 Camry or that kind of car. Maybe a 996 tippy with a tear in the seat which blows blue smoke at startup. Not for serious cars.

I would consider Renlist for the 991.

Craigslist and Facebook are definitely bottom feeders, some I don't even think can read. We have a early 944 listed on Facebook, clearly states that the engine is disassembled, but I still have people asking if it runs and drives.

Can I get a test drive?
I’m thinking of selling my 40 Jahre 996. I’ve been talking to a local broker. BaT is a pita. |

CL does attract a lot of trash, but if you’re patient and are willing to sift through all the garbage, scams and *******s, you can get what you want for your car. I sold both my 964 and 993 on CL for my asking in about 2 weeks.

I posted on PCA because I thought less dealers. Not the case, but what do I care. First dealer decided not to buy the car I posted for sale, but fell in love with the SC Targa ****box you could see in some of the original car pics. Another dealer bought the original for sale car. This is all within a week of posting on PCA and neither dealer came to see the cars in person. Wired the money and had them picked up within another week. It was a feeding frenzy a few years ago. Is the current market as hot as 2015-16 or hotter? BAT was a thing then, but was intimidated by the peanut gallery for a less-than-perfect car. Which is funny for a website called Bring A Trailer.

I've sold 2 Porsche's on BaT and got better than hoped for results both times. They don't care if you've listed the car elsewhere (unless things have changed) they would just want you to remove the asking price in your ads. You see plenty of owners announcing their BaT listings in our cars for sale forums and elsewhere.

During the 2008 recession I was amazed at the amount of classic cars available (all toys, really). Lots of air cooled 911s to pick from, I found my '84 for $12,000. The most recent recession, while not on the same scale, nothing budged. Classic cars seem to actually go up and continue to do so. The only thing I can think will cause a big drop in values would be some sort of economic collapse. In place of that in the coming years would be Internal Combustion cars being legislated off the road. Perhaps not completely but Govt would make owning them a pain in the a$$ - "You can keep your car but we're going to make it difficult and expensive to do so".

Hey Guys I appreciate the help
Appears most people agree BAT is the best place to sell.

CL, or even one of the larger sites that get picked up by the aggregators, can be an inexpensive way to reach people who don't know about BaT or PCM. Not everyone's well-connected to the broader community, and it might be worth a flier while you're waiting in BaT's queue, if that's not against their terms.
