Help me value this 2 owner 1970 911T
 

Hi there, my wife's father purchased this car in California in 1980 & we believe he was the second owner. Car was well taken care of & driven in the 80's & 90's, driven much less over the last 20 years & was garaged.

Its a 4 spd, 4 wheel disc brakes, has aftermarket stereo. The paint is fading in certain spots, I'm pretty sure its a re-spray from the 80s. We just had a fair amount of work done to it (approx $9k) to get it running well & fix all of the various leaks. I recently drove it down to San Clemente from Ventura.

I'm not sure if its the original motor or not, there's a box of receipts for the work performed over the past 41 yrs.

I'm trying to get a sense from knowledgeable Porsche folks what the current market value is. I've seen sold Bring a Trailer auctions with cars in this condition going for 55-70k depending on condition, options, colors, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Plus it has a S front spoiler even though that didn’t originally come with the car.

Actually S deco and trim was a very common option on 70-71 911Ts. It was so common it’s almost something you always expect.

Does it matter 50 years later? That has to be a bonus. Change it back if necessary. It doesn't hurt it at all.

Gorgeous car. I would not solely base value off of Bring a Trailer-- auctions can be very temperamental which large fluctuations. BAT is usually very good for sellers and bad for buyers.

You need to post the engine number and confirm if its the original engine. Maintenance records are valuable too. Do you have the original steering wheel? Any other aftermarket parts on the car besides the wheel and the CB radio?

Upon closer look, I’m going to guess that’s a fiberglass replica front bumper. Was the car in a front end accident? It’s got the later black horn grills on it.

The AC console under the dash doesn't appear to be original, either. I'd just remove it, since the system will need to be completely overhauled anyway and there's no compressor or condensor (at least). Looks like the PO made some minor mods to upgrade/modernize the car's look, probably back in the mid-1970s.

Of course, the biggest determinant of price for these long hoods is rust, or lack of it.

Thanks for all of the replies guys, its appreciated. I have the original, I'll assume, bumper. I will add pics of that along with the engine #, now that I think I know where that's located. Also, I do not have the original steering wheel. I do have some receipts, most are from the 80' plus the receipt for the work we had done to get it back on the road, that was $8k.

As far as price goes, at least a ballpark, it seems like mid 60's perhaps? If Bring a Trailer is not the place to sell a car like this, what avenue would you recommend? My buying & selling experience for the most part has been limited to later model cars & not classics of this nature.

I think BaT is a good venue for a car like that and I'd take the over on $65k unless there's some major rust or mechanical or collison story.

I'm with Rick on this one. $65K all day long. I think you could get that with just a private sale.
A well done BaT listing could be well worth your time and effort.

Without seeing the undercarriage and pan I couldn’t say. Kidney bowls, rear torsion bar mounts, and the front a-arms would be a good start.

Here's some more pix. The I will assume original bumper, a few pix of the undercarriage & the motor number. There's very little rust on this car & what there is, appears to be of the surface variety.
Can someone tell me what the motor is via the photo & whether its the original or not? I'm not sure which set of numbers is supposed to match which. Thanks.

Engine number is right for the car. They don’t match as in the vin is the same as the engine. They match as in its original to the car. It’s likely original.

I think more than $65k. At that, you’ll see it for sale again after some super detailing and minor reconditioning. I’d personally ask $75k and be negotiable.

Which is the vin located? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm new to the classic Porsche world.

The dash has been replaced and the wheels are “Flat 6” not the original “deep 6”?

Those blue plates are probably 78-80. Lines up with the PO. Its had a re-paint as well. Got to then wonder what's underneath that and why? I love the rear speaker enclosure! Interior seats look nice but, really not enough pictures or info on the mechanicals for me to get excited beyond $50k. She looks tired.

Bat is chock full of $60k + cars that not surprisingly turned into a hot mess for the passionate over bidder.
