Opinions needed on color for build that I am selling.
I am resto-modding a 1977 Carrera 3.0 non-sunroof coupe that lost its original motor. Car was originally Guards/India Red and my original idea was to build a 3.0RS tribute in the red/gold scheme. Engine will be a 3.5 with EFI, sport seats, whale tail, IROC style bumpers, fender mounted cibies, overall nothing too crazy. I’ve started to come to terms with the fact that not-so-resale-red may not be a great idea. I’m stuck on it being the original color but I think I’m I’ve it. I’m about 90% that I want to paint it Porsche Sports Classic Grey, 5% something darker, and about 5% on a darker non-metallic blue. The secondary decision is letting go of the gold carrera stripes and accents. Whatcha all think?

I think those matte greys are really of the moment. If you can bang out the build to tap that well, I think it could be worth a little extra juice for you.
Build sounds great and looking fwd to seeing the progress! |

Slate Gray, they all look good but just forget the blue/gold.

It’s tongue in cheek. McQueen’s car started the popularity of grey 911s, and Singer capitalized on it and made it more trendy and mainstream. Do this car in grey and it will be ahome run. The other colors mentioned are more edgy. If profit and sellability drive the decision grey it is.

Voted grey - but only because green wasn’t an option. Irish green with gold wheels would do it for me.

A little possibly Nathan ... but I think the interior killed it
If thats too risky, the Singer 'chalk' colour would be my favourite Cheers Steve |

Yeah the interior more the paint for sure but I couldn’t believe the amount of negative comments about the paint color. I loved both

If I was doing this car for personal consumption I would do Sunoco blue with yellow Carrera and gold wheels.

Such a shame you can’t find a customer now so they could customize the interior and paint it an odd/rare dream color. If you’re looking to maximize dollars I have to think slate grey with a burgundy interior is bankable.
Unhelpful comment, but this car needs a semi-hot 3.0 and save that 3.5 for a pre-76 build where it can breath. Seems like a waste in this chassis (IMHO) |
