An offer for my 79SC

I wasn't looking to sell but have an offer of 30k for my 79SC.

Mineva Blue
Cork interior
Bright trim
All numbers matching *

I have owned this car since 2005

Low optioned - according to COA , right side mirror, antenna and Dunlop tires.

Paint 10' looks great, looking closer shrunk paint showing sanding marks, some loose paint on the fender and a few chips. No body damage.

Interior is clean no rips or pulled seams just aged headliner intact with some minor yellowing. One single small crack on dash, from passenger side vent out to top seam on dash.

Motor was serviced before me owning it looks like it was a total teardown no records. Starts and runs excellent needs nothing at this time

* Tranny is a perfect shifting spare needs nothing. The original tranny is included and needs 1 - 2 sycros the rest shifted fine.

Most of the standard upgrades done, tensioners, fusing dash lights, healight relays, SSIs, etc.....

New Clutch, PP, TOB Coninentals and AGM battery

Included as well:
Removed Carrarra tail, new front smile, removed AC system, Euro tail light lenses,
used but better carpets, tool kit and Waynes books.

I does look like a driven car so it is not a garage queen but a very honest car.

Does the 30k sound right? I believe it is fair to a local buyer cash no shipping.

Sawyer

PS I'll need to load some pictures to this laptop but they are coming.

30 seems low..Without pics I’d guess 35-45 in today’s market.

30 is a complete lowball FYI.

It'd sell in a day if you listed it in the 40s. 50+ if you have patience and market it accordingly.

Yeah at 30k it'll be flipped twice before it finds a final owner.

Do you like the buyer? Is he an actual friend? That’s a friends and family price.

$30K isn't even close. $40K plus is more like it. $40K plus plus depending on actual in person presentation. $50K isn't out of the question depending on mileage, original paint, the way it drives, rubber seals etc.

Somebody is trying to steal that car from you. That's not a fair deal.

That’s at least a 45-55k car. What’s the mileage btw? Don’t give it away for 30. That’s what SC projects are getting.

Bad computer days

Argggggg!!! I just spent a half hour typing a response and forgot to check the remember me box and/or copy/pasting it as I have in the past. My daily laptop is in need of the second power plug replacement so limited pictures

Here is the car a few years ago:

I'm not going to spend the time rewriting my last response. I answered an ad my car is exactly what he was looking for. I had the car registered to my recently sold other out of state house. Still waiting for my new title for the past 4 months (another story)

The guy is local I talk to him weekly and is a cash deal. Easy and secure. Not a friend or family just a genuinely nice guy who appreciates the car and would be a good steward for it.

Trouble is my promise to sell him the car at the agreed price - Good Karma - and feel foolish to have left a bunch of cash on the table or harpoon him asking for more or selling to an other buyer.

Double trouble, when will I be able to have a slick top 911SC with no mechanical issues in presentable driver condition back in the garage?

That’s a fantastic color. I’d probably get buried in it if I owned it.

Be honest. Tell him you’ve been doing some homework and we’re niave to just how much they are now worth. His reaction to that should tell you your next move. If he’s a good guy, he will offer more. If he’s a d1ck he will try to guilt trip you into “keeping your word”.

Or, you can just tell him after sleeping on it you’re not ready to sell it just yet.

"I answered an ad my car is exactly what he was looking for. "

Most probably this was a fishing ad and he is offering to buy the car to make money and you should have no problem going back to him and showing him the BAt sale and asking him to split the difference if you feel that strongly about shutting down the deal . its only fair he should agree or walk.

edit:
+1 on MM last post

Thanks guys for the reality check. If I decide to sell now looking at it with a bit of clarity I would be honest and approach it as Matt has bought up.

Hi Jeff, not a phishing issue. It was an add he posted on C.L. I was just perusing thru wanted ads. He was pretty much looking for the specific car I have. I responded and he has shared a few other cars he looked at but no sharing the price. His mechanic spent about an hour checking it out at my place and told him hands down get this car.

Clue to the great deal to be had. Issue with the slow roll out of the title has bought me time to rethink.

Some of the now sorry points I had offered is the ability to recoupe some of the cost of the car. I am throwing in the removed tail factory set up in excellent shape, original tranny, euro tail light lenses and front smile, spare carpets, complete AC system carefully removed for future install

Probably close to 3k+ in selling off these and other parts.

I was not looking to sell he just caught me at the moment, if I cancel the deal I will
be keeping it and move on.

Feeling his pain, after looking for months, find exactly what your looking for locally and cheap than led on for four months to have the carpet pulled out from under you. But than again will he feel bad for me with sellers remorse and an empty bay?

Sawyer

BK that was not nice, I know these type of threads can be tweeked to start an auction but I am truelly sincere in my dilemma.

I am not actively marketing the car. Just a situation I have gotten myself into.

So to all here I appreciate all the feedback and hopefully bring me to my senses.

BK is one of the regulars around here. He’s just having some fun.

The ones serious about trying to get your car for a song will PM you.

MM yes kind of recognize BK been here as a guest for many years. My wife was more active early on.

Just used his response to reassure the Pelican Parts Community my intention. I would rather this kind of humor than some of the trolls that creep in and turn the subjects around.

I started this thread due to my appreciation and faith in this group to be the smartest bunch of enthusiests in any forum I have been on. With their hands on the pulse of the market.

Sawyer

PS - When I get my other laptop back I can post additional pictures and list good/bad items for a more accurate keyboard appraisal.
