Removing cosmoline. Why?

Has anyone else here noticed how some Porsches on BaT have the cosmoline removed? I think this happens when the underside is cleaned with dry ice blasting. IMHO - the cosmoline came from the factory and it is proper to leave it on. It adds protection and probably some sound reduction.

Looks better than that 76 turbo Carrera last week with overspray all over it. Maybe for preservation class car shows it’s wanted, but if it’s one of these cars that guys drive a couple thousand miles a year, never in rain, never in salt or sand, then most will prefer it clean. There’s no added protection from the element on that car. And when you sell it, people can see it’s a no stories rust free example without having to poke around on the undercoating.

Yeah, the underside of this 11k mile 930 (auction ends Wednesday) looks awful!

Can't stand the stuff and I remove it from all my cars. It is a magnet for dirt and I have never had an issue with mine being removed from preservation class at Parade.

It drips on the garage floor and needs to be removed! :)
