value of 73E engine

I bought a 75 car that came with a 73E engine. I am wondering if it makes sense to offer the engine here on Pelican, or just leave it with the car.
Cold, the engine starts a little hard with some popping out of the intake, but settles into a nice idle. Warm, it starts right up and idles smoothly. When it first started, it blew a lot of liquid oil out the exhaust, but that has now stopped-I am assuming that this is from liquid oil accumulating in the muffler.
All of the E intake parts except the intake flapper and rubber boot are present. MFI pump is the correct 014 unit.
If selling, the sale would have to net enough to cover the cost of buying and installing a 2.7 or 3.0 in the car. But a 73 E engine might just be what someone needs. What do you think?

$9-10k with all MFI?

Unless you find someone willing to swap you, I doubt selling it would net you enough to acquire another motor installed etc. in todays market, especially with "liquid oil" coming from the muffler. Perhaps if you post the motor number and someone needs it to make their car numbers matching than yes. But likely if you have the motor the original car is long gone. If I had to peg a value without pictures, $8K-$12K as it is basically a core needing a rebuild.

$10-12k.

Really stout motor a serious upgrade to the original.

I agree it is worth $10 to $12k.

It would be an expensive rebuild.

I would be inclined to list it on www.early911sregistry.org. It's where many of us longhood guys find each other. Condition and a fully intact engine will effect it's worth. To rebuild the engine is a 35 to 50k expense. I'm having a MFI engine built for a customer and it will be closer to 50 than 35. Any MFI parts missing will be somewhat expensive to replace.

I think the OP sold the car complete.

The car and engine were sold. It is possible that the car and engine may show up again here, since it is an unusual combination. We did compression check and based on that I believe the future owner could get some some more service out of the engine with just a valve job.

I had a 75 with an E engine and Webers. Car was way better than a stock 2.7.
