Question to the hive mind to quickly disappear
I recently saw this long hood (on-line) and loved the wheels.
Have these been cut and welded? Banded? Does anyone do banding in the US? Something after market? OEM rears from something later? Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes they’ve been cut and widened. There are several wheel shops that will do that work. Group 4 also makes an aluminum ‘steelie’ wheel in wide sizes like this.

Just checked out Group 4. At $500 a corner, I might have to save up for a week or so!

I think Erik Lind at Sport Purposes Garage is the US distributor.

Sometimes I have a mind to disappear quickly.
Other times I have had my mind disappear quickly. Occasionally they will occur simultaneously. |

They look like 7s. Some are widened; some are aftermarket. Group 4 does sell 7 reproduction steelies.
https://www.group4wheels.com/search-products/LMZ1570-23-Satin-Silver-15-x-7-ET23-p248559580 I have found them from a few other vendors as well.

I don’t suppose anyone has a set of either 4.5” or 5.5” steels they would be willing to sell me for around $500 shipped? (Minneapolis)
They don’t need to be date stamped or concours worthy. If you do, please PM me. Thanks!

Ok. Thanks
![]() I was hopeful! There are repos (which I know are much less desirable, but should work for me) for around $200 each so will probably end up going for a set of those if no-one can help me out. Thank you.

Well somehow, I’ve been lucky enough to end up with a set of 4 7” x 15”.
I have no idea if I can get them to fit, but they did live on a 1970 911 for a while. At the same time, I met a great Porsche and general car guy, so even if they don’t fit, I’ve had a wonderful hour or so, talking cars and car history, with someone with an achingly beautiful black 911e. Has anyone ever managed to fit 7” - if only on the back, with stock SWB arches?

I’m having a bit of an unlucky time with used Porsche parts at the moment.
I’ve bought a couple of things over the past week or so that have turned out to be somewhat not quite what I was expecting… One of which is the ‘new’ (to me) steels I’ve just picked up. Turns out that they aren’t the 7” X 15” I was told but actually 8” X 16”! I think I would have noticed if one of the dimensions was off, but by my eye, they seemed to be in proportion. There is no way they will fit on a SWB. So, it looks like I’m going to be selling a set…
