SCAM SCAM SCAM 911SC backdate for $40K at FAKE dealer

SCAM SCAM SCAM !!!!!

I just ran across a listing that I thought was a good deal but turns out to be a more complicated SCAM. I initially shared this as a car for sale (no affiliation) but now am editing my post to serve as a warning for this type of SCAM.

link to car: https://www.tandtautogarage.com/inventory/porsche/911-sc-coupe/301909/

Info below from other forum members about how the scam works...

strange.. it already sold on BaT for over double the current ask.

This crew has been doing this lately. They build sites using "legit" dealership names and locations and put ads together on CL, FB, offer up. Steal listings off BAT and other sites. If it stinks like a duck.. (OP - just noticed your name is dirty duck.. not talking about you! haha)

How does the scam work? They ask for a deposit to hold the car?

That's it, or worse - they hope you'll wire full ask because it looks like such a good deal.
Sounds silly, but people still fall for it all the time.

That, or they have you contact their sister/brother/father-in-law to arrange delivery through EBAY Finance or some such BS.

How do I change the thread topic? I want to make sure it's know that this is a SCAM discussion and not me trying to push a scam ad!

@Flynt and others, thanks for quickly pointing out the scam and sharing info on how it works. I was totally fouled by the seemingly legit website!

Don’t sweat it. Anyone who reads a few posts will understand. You’re cool.

Sadly, they are impersonating a legit shop called T&T Auto, which is the name of the shop at the address on the scam website. So, if anyone were to check the shop out on Google Maps it would look legit. The real T&T Auto's website and phone number are different.

Another point that might help people not get scammed is to explain to people how you found this ad.

I found it through Craigslist. I actually saw a Chevy Blazer for sale with no price listed so went to the website to look for the price. Oddly enough, I the price on the Blazer was act too high! So, I was just curious to see what else they had and this jumped out. So, it seems like they list several other cars at higher prices trying to seem more legit, then throw in one that’s crazy low to get you.

Makes perfect sense. Who do you want to scam?
Some country boy looking for an old Blazer or a millennial desperate for an air cooled Porsche?

Scam 912

This looks to be another scam by the same party. The named dealer went out of business a few years ago...
