Approx value for '88 CE coupe?

Hey guys, this is the first time I've ever visited the Marketplace! Some other threads have me curious so I've ventured over here for some guidance. It's time to renew my "declared value" Haggerty policy, so here goes:

'88 Commemorative Edition w/ 70K miles, no issues whatsoever...no leaks, minimal oil consumption (maybe 1 qt. over 3k miles), and certainly not stock anymore, but I don't care about that. I've done all the work myself years ago...total suspension refresh while stiffening her a bit, 930 brakes, lots more too numerous to mention off the top of my head. Just looking for a ballpark $ amount...I currently have it declared at 25K (not enough I know even for a few years ago). Never tracked...runs like a scalded dog and is a go-kart on rails for spirited street driving. No A/C, backdated heat...I've got to stop now.... All these pictures are grabbed from the archives and taken several years ago, but still representative of her today. What say ye regarding approx. value for insurance purposes? NO, she's NOT for sale !

I would insure that for 35 easy, more if the premium rise isn't too crazy.

I think 35k plus is correct too.

On the subject of Hagerty they recently tried to charge me approx 5% more premium on an agreed value increase. In other words $250 more a year to increase the value by 5k. This sounds way to much. Example my existing Hagerty policy is agreed value of 22k and costs $385, to update the agreed value to 27k resulted in a premium rise to $635!

My '89 with 74k miles is insured for 35k. I imagine our cars have very similar values.

What would it cost to replace it? Do you think you could do it for <40-45K? It's a beauty.

Harsh reality is that I couldn't replace her at any amount...I've simply put too much time and TLC into her and though I've spent some $, I couldn't begin to calculate how many hours I've spent back when. Here's a sample of some $4K bling bling that you'll never see (I painted the calipers). Just cleaning up of the engine compartment, wheel wells, etc. was a labor of "love" ("insanity" ). I'll probably reinsure in the 35K range....can't replace, just need to mitigate the loss if worse comes to worse. Thanks all!

Throw it on BAT. You should get $50k + easily by the looks of it.

Comps for days.

She's a beauty. People are paying up for these G50's and yours is a prime candidate for top dollar. $50K all day long.

Someone's been waiting for this kind of car and they'll be willing to pay.

There is a thread about a totaled 1988 just below this one and people seem to think it will sell for “low to mid 20’s” based on that and how nice your car looks Id go the BAT route and expect $45k+ wouldn’t be surprised to see low 50’s if you get a couple people who really want it.

She looks to be in good shape, low-ish mileage. If you have manual, records, etc. then 55, with 60K possible. Maybe even higher if you can find the right buyer really interested in a CE in that color.

Matt's about right, $60k-ish. Put it out there for $65k and see if you get any bites. But I'd wait a couple more months. The dead of winter is not the time to try to get top dollar on a sports car.

I've toyed with the idea of letting my 88 CE go also. Not this year, however.

fwiw, my folks had a few pcars back in the day. If they used the "its dusty and I hardly use it" approach to ownership, I wouldn't have a 914-6 now. So you didn't use it? so what. If you can afford to keep it, I suggest doing so. If you need the liquidity, well, then sell. It can always be "brought back" from a slumber. It can't necessarily be "bought back" though if u sell.

Why did you stop using it?

If there is one thing I learned about aircooled 911s - especially ones with CIS or injection - is that they hate to sit and bringing them back is time consuming, money-wasting, and most of all not enjoyable to most people - so they sell it in the end when it's not running and worth less.

If it's running and you don't use it - sell it.

I insure my 68k mile 88 coupe for $55k and I would expect this car to fetch at least as much on the open market.

I've decided she's worth 55....easy (as is now). When I post more details..methinks y'all will agree.

Need to replace the red top Optima that's been on a tender....bolted to a nice 911 mounting plate. I know Optimas aren't what they once were (better choices now?), but think the same will go back in. Stay tuned....

Black3.2...how did you sell yours?

Thanks all!
