1981 SC Targa clean and straight
Hey all, sad for me, but it's come time to part with my 911 and I'm wondering how to value it.
I'm the second owner, only registered in AZ and CA bought from Bob Smith Hollywood in 1991, with the exception of windows out repaint, speakers, radio, wheels (Fuchs chrome), H4 headlights with painted euro rings and new aftermarket sun visors, it's totally original stock. 67k miles showing (but 85MPH odo ditched, I know not when), no accidents or collision damage anywhere. 8k ago new studs, valve job, clutch, brakes, rings, fuel pump, engine sound proofing. Black and Tan with factory sport seats and refurbished top. No leaks and factory manual, spare, tool kit. Full records since 2004 (lost other records, but I'm still looking) but I religiously changed oil and brake fluid. Also I fixed anything that every went wrong; there's no deferred maintenance. Passes smog every 2 years. Garaged since I've had it in 1991, never a daily driver or smoked in and I hardly drive it since my wife is not comfortable riding in a car without airbags. I'm in the San Fernando Valley and would gladly do a PPI anywhere within 50 miles. It's not a show car or concours beauty, but it could be a regional contender with some sweat equity! I am planning a complete detail and would have it available by summer. |

Tan/brown interior and black paint. Is that the original color combo?

I was going to say $55k for a quick sale, but more if you want to work for it. I’m sure several dealers have already PMd offers in the 40s…

Yes it is the original scheme. No evidence of a different paint color anywhere and the interior is all original.
It is pretty ugly, but I wanted a light colored interior because I live in SoCal. Last edited by twhitehead928; 05-01-2022 at 11:17 AM.. |

As usual, BaT could be a good outlet. They're backed up a couple of months out though so take that into account.
And please please ignore the bottom feeders who'll have PMd you "$40k CASH I have the CASH ready for you, did I mention it's CASH", they don't deserve a reply.

I would be curious as to the number of BFs that have reached out on this particular thread as an example..

I don’t think you should wait for summer. Ask 60k now, before the economy collapse. People are looking for safe places to hide money and nothing is safer than a 911.
