1980 SC Targa $130k on BaT
Not sure if you saw this auction. Quite interesting I think.
1980 SC Targa represented as 8k original miles with all original paint. No records. Some paint readings looked uneven. User Greg_F (is he here on Pelican?) put up some fair challenge. Intense and interesting bidding, with one brand new guy (joined oct 22) duking it out with another guy who bid up aggressively a couple times and ultimately won at $130k hammer. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1980-porsche-911sc-targa-53/ Last edited by Rick Brooklyn; 10-14-2022 at 03:49 PM.. |

Insane for car with no paperwork. Highly doubt mileage is actual.

What actual paperwork would an 8000 mile car have?
There would have been two or three service marks in the Warranty and Maintenance book and that's it, at best. And if you changed your own oil, none at all. Certainly a lot of "expert opinion" by a number of people on something few actually inspected. |

In the start video it looks like the oil light is staying on while idling.

If it's phony bidding... Did the seller get phony money?
I wonder sometimes about buyers just flaking |

insane! It's not even a rare color combo or spec. BaT sometimes defies logic and understanding I guess.

Buyer has also won the following auctions on BAT so money is not a concern for him
1969 Mercedes 280SL $95K 1973 BMW 3.0CSI $165K 1990 BMW M3 $180K 1973 Datsun $240Z $34K If I was going to pay $130K for an SC Targa, it would be in pristine museum quality condition. I noticed on one of the invoices a shop charged $1K to replace the oil pressure switch in the triangle of death region, crazy.

I changed the part in my Targa with a partial engine drop. Took about an hour for a first timer.

The price is crazy. But I'm leaning toward the mileage being correct.
I don't think I have ever seen an 80's muffler with half the zinc coating still on it?
