Selling My Targa

It's with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my Targa.
I'm retired now, I have two bad shoulders which makes working on my 911 difficult.
I've owned this car for almost 18 years. When I bought it, it had 95k miles on it, now it has 410k, approximately.
The car is coming home from the paint shop soon. It's been repainted the original Guards Red.

My question to you is, what is the best way to sell a car like this? I will get it appraised by Los Angeles Auto Appraisers, so I should have an educated idea of its worth.

Do I sell it through auction? Hemmings Motor News? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for your help.
Larry

In this super hot-for-porsche market, you could sell the car on Craigslist or FB marketplace and have no end to the number of interested potential buyers. You'll have to weed out the scammers and bots but this method requires no waiting or large sellers fees.

I mean it really depends if your goal is to get the very best price for it or to quickly have a low-effort sale where you still get way more than a 40 yr old car should be worth.

What is the nature of your 2 bad shoulders?
Does it prevent you from driving the car, or just working on it?
Why not keep it and let a shop maintain it?

Wow....... this car has driven into rarified territory.....410,000 miles. It will take a special buyer to appreciate this car.

You will need a detailed for sale ad as you will want to itemize maintenance closely.

I would advertise it here. Maybe BaT but only if you have a thoroughly documented service history which would describe how you maintained the car. PCar is a maybe their audience is on/off , PCA marketplace, Hemmings if your car is premium, if you are bargain selling it craigslist would work.

Reality, a Guards Red GBody Targa is a fairly common 911 model and w/o service history yours could be a tough sale.

But again, congratulations for this remarkable feat of ownership and dedication.

My son's 88 coupe has 300K+; we really aren't sure how much it actually has. The odometer was broken when he bought it.

Maintenance records? LOL. They stopped 15 years ago. He has done all his own work since he bought it with that mileage 7-8 years ago.

The car is very, very fast and doesn't leak. Runs well. I would buy it in a minute for $40K. It's a driver that you can take to Home Depot or a C&C. It's a beast and I love it for what it is.

Why did you repaint it if you knew you are selling it?
5 years ago, any car over 200k miles had a hard price ceiling and limited buyers.
Not sure of market today
