after seeing that crushed GT3 on the wrecker it got me to thinking some about how I might at some point need another 911 to feel complete and exit this life. I am thinking about an early 996/997 T3 might be my sweet spot. saw this one on BAT today and with 2 days left i will be watching what it ultimately might bring.

prolly would appreciate the 03 TT i once owned and hated so much then much, much more today.

what should i be looking for? i realize many have been track flogged, like the example i shared from BAT above. if you have that many sets of rims and tires there is something going on there... can't declare my budget yet but would love to see examples of what y'all know.

I like both 996 GT3 and TTs.

This is an honest ad for a GT3 that has been used as intended, questions for me would be about how it was maintained..... this might be an opportunity if the car trades under $80,000.

In today's market a nice example of a no stories GT3 is a $120,000, a base TT is a $65 to $70,000 with 05TTSs or X50 cars start at $100,000. Again, these are cars that are #2s in quality and wear.

Another thought would be to look at 991.2s as you could get into an S or 4S for the same budgtet. I have a 991.2 S 3.0L Twin Turbo putting out 420hp. Certainly not as raw as a GT3.... but I am old.

OK, looking at cayman and boxsters now... was the early 3.2L Boxter S susceptible to the IMS issues like the 2.7?

what was the cayman S sweet spot?

budget 12 to 35K? what are you buying?

Look at the 987s to get the “updated” ims design. Going all the way to a 987.2 is best, imo. They are great little cars, and without childrens, you don’t need no back seats.

I drove my Cayman to vegas with my luggage in the frunk, and a gearbox on the passenger’s floor. Seats were miles better than the 986 seats. The seats are really the only reason I sold your old car.

Too old to be cool and not old enough to be classic.
