They're nice cars but I'm going to pick on the wheels of both - on the silver car, very nice and original except for the black wheels. I would return those to factory finish because the rest of the car is a great example of a stock Carrera.
The red car says 7" and 8" wheels, they look like 6" and 7" instead. Hopefully the seller has the original seats and steering wheel, air filter and other stock engine pieces.

As the silver car was imported to Canada from the US, if the seller still has the title from the state it was imported from, there shouldn't be any duty due upon re-importation to the US at the border. If you fly in and drive it back across the border you pay whatever fees/taxes are required in the new state of registration the same as one would do with any out of state purchase. True, if you want to ship it across the border, transport costs would be more than internal US shipping.

And if you live in Toronto it doesn’t matter. Every buyer has different exact details.

$10K+ !!?? It cost far less (in 2021 dollars) to bring a car RORO from EU to US, from experience. Maybe a container is $10k I don't know. This type of comment is overinflated on BAT as well that it appears to be hurting Canadian car sales. No skin in the game just annoyed because it's not hard with proper paperwork and some diligence. Registration costs what is costs per State no matter where you get the car from so take that out of the equation. If it's a US car exported and then coming back with proof that it was already in the US, take the duty fee out as well.
*not legal advice, and if you live in California you're on your own: You don't need a title, Canadian transferrable registration works (YYMV check with you local motor vehicle department). Just like you are not going to get a title from an EU car or even some states like NY that don't issue titles for cars over a certain age. You just flat out won't get one, no matter what, buying or selling. What you will get is a transferrable registration, a.k.a. a document that proves transfer of ownership. People obsess over titles, why I do not know. I think it is ignorance to understanding that a current transferrable registration signed by the owner is a legal and widely accepted way to change ownership of a vehicle, along with a Bill of Sale. What you will need is all the appropriate import documents. Of course the car must be at least 25 years old to make it real easy; no federalization of lights, seats, or other component changes, and no issues with emissions getting it into the US. If the car was a US car exported to Canada with documentation it's even easier and costs even less. /rant If you are local enough and don't mind roadtrips, do it yourself. If getting your newly acquired car impounded and destroyed at the boarder is scary (worst case for sure is possible) I don't think it will cost $10k for a broker to do it for you, again all based on my experiences within the last 5 years. Also sure, shipping from Calgary to Florida will cost more than to just across the boarder like Montana or PNW. Somewhere on the internet there's a well documented story of a guy that drove a classic Mercedes purchased in Canada across the boarder to Texas without a hitch. It's all about the paperwork folks. Great looking 3.2 Carreras if thats what you're into, GL ![]() |
