BAT 50% fee increase

https://bringatrailer.com/2024/01/26/bat-site-update-5-buyers-fee-cap-is-7500-as-of-1-29-24/

me, speaking NON-pc: folks, we're sorry but we just acquired a 50% larger reamer so we'll ream your you-know-what, 50% larger to give you the contact info of the dope who outbid everyone else.

brilliant (or BLOODY brilliant if you're a redcoat).

Also, pcarmarket only lets you see auction RESULTS if you register / log-in. WTH is that about?

Not really a 50% fee increase. It's still 5% but it's capped at $7500 now. Meaning if a car sells for $100K, the buyers fee is still $5k. If it sells for $150K or more, the buyers fee is $7500 max.

You don't like the prices, then don't use it. As if this guy was going to sell his $150k car on BAT but now changed his mind over $2500.

The fee is to the buyer not the seller. They sell nearly 100 cars daily many of which are misrepresented by the sellers and they knowingly allow it. They blocking the honest commenters so the clueless can chime in about how beautiful the turd is. Now they want an additional $2500 for this service.

Fact is more RNM than they like so they will take it from the ones that do sell. People are getting wise to the BS and the economy is in the toilet for this stuff and I suspect far too many other venues competing.

A large corp bought out a privately owned site and then raised fees? Say it isn't so!

Just have to factor the cost into what you are willing to bid. For all its faults its still a decent place to sell at least. If I had the resources I don't know how willing I would be to buy something there at least not without a trusted inspection.

As far as I know, there's no charge by BaT for exchanging the high bidder and seller contact information when the reserve is not met. BaT despite all it's negative characteristics for buyers is a excellent site for sellers for the right kind of car. Matching the car to the sell site is always the trick for a seller.

As you said for the sellers. BaT was originated with the concept to bring cars to the buyers and not the wacky show it has become for the sellers.
