Perhaps I'm lucky
Having driven the early cars beck in the day, I know that the actual driving experience, although delightful in it's time, simply isn't worth the prices these cars get now.

I can identify with your feelings. Of course, actual value has nothing to do with the perceived experience. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

it's at $177k with a day to go....and the price will keep going up for the last 2 minutes, which goes on for a long time.....so, pwd72s's point will become even more valid soon

Concur. I daily drove SWB cars for almoat a couple decades... 1976 to 1993. No way I'd spend that kind of money today. I just bought a 2009 Maserati GTS, one of 300 or so with the Graziano F1 transaxle. It's elegant and fun. So yeah... I swapped makes!

I could sell my house, buy that car with the profits, and then buy a brand new built home in a "less desirable" area.

I've been holding off telling you guys, but...
We put our house in Metro NY, just north of NYC, on MLS with a realtor as "Coming Soon", 2 weeks ago, for one week. They can only see pictures online, no appointments during this period. Last Tuesday we put it up for sale and we started making appointments. In 6 days we had 81 showings! 14,175 views on Zillow with 1276 Saves. We stopped showing the house after 6 days. We got an offer the first day, 8% over asking. To date, we have 12 offers on the table. 2 at full asking, 10 over or a lot over the asking price. 3 All Cash. 3 or 4 with 1/2 down and 1/2 mortgage! 3 or 4 with 20% down. Some with no inspections or appraisals. Good news for us, but bad news for these kids who are looking. Imagine bidding 10% over asking with 60% down and not getting the house? That's going to happen here to more than one young couple. I feel sorry for these kids. The inventory is so low they have to overbid and strike early and high. We'd love to have a nice young couple get the house but we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Only reason I haven’t is wife and kids aren’t ready to move yet. But I wouldn’t buy the car. Just going to go pay cash for a house.

Rofl. Not really, though the big kid isn’t that many years from being big enough to leave. More than anything it’s really about reducing our livestock and pet load.

Was watching that as there's a non matching 67 here. Our problem is my wife took over half my shop with wood working tools. She does use them though. Livestock is another issue, we're staying. Watching the Sand Hill cranes all winter is pretty cool too.
