Blaupunkt Monterey SRQ 23 - Sell? Keep with Car

Hello all, I acquired a Monterey 23 when I purchased my ‘76. The PO replaced it with an ugly disco, ricey Kenwood, which I replaced with a Continental as I wanted something that was a bit more modern and classy looking. BUT . . .

Back to the Monterey 23 (which apparently are fairly “rare”, for whatever that is worth).

I was told it worked upon removal (and I will check functionality), but I’m trying to get an idea if the unit is better kept with the car or has real value to a more concourse oriented owner of a different car. There are two I’ve seen for sale. One at $250 which doesn’t work. One at $750 advertised as working, but the seller admits in the description that the tape deck isn’t working and photos show pixels out on the display.

Thoughts on this unit? Value if fully functional? Worth getting rehabbed if not working? Keep or sell?

Thanks!

Yeah, it's the wrong head unit for a '76, so I wouldn't feel any attachment to it if I was in your shoes. Good on you for pulling the modern head unit out for something more appropriate--shiny Kenwood CD players in vintage cars is a no-go for me.

Thanks Mocker, I share your distaste for any car audio that is all about “bling”, the Kenwood also had a horrible user interface, so there was that, too.

I’ll sort out the Blaupunkt’s functionality and then sell it. Someone might want a period correct head unit for their car.

If anyone wants to chime in regarding value, please do so.

If it was correct for your 911, it would be a no brainer, but since it isn’t, sell while the market is hot.
