Matt, Any Idea What Year 915?
|
Nope. Thats just a casting number. .0R would be the first version, but I have no idea how many versions there were. They didn’t have as many of trackable revisions to castings as the engine cases. It’s 1979 at least because it’s aluminum, but it could be any year after that.
They do have date stamps on them, just like an engine. I forget the location though. |
|
Byron, the date stamp and sub model is on the bottom seam of the case.

Sorry, those pictures are better. That’s mag case, 72-77. I’m guessing on the earlier side and it likely has a 7:31 ring and pinion. It’s worth more but they are more likely to be worn out. Makes it a total crap shoot.
Last one I bought, I made the guy remove the side cover and show me the condition. I paid $2500 based on that. Not knowing I wouldn’t pay more than $1500. Even if it’s bad it still has a good mix of needed sellable parts. |

An 86 would have the cutouts for the 3.2 reference and speed sensor, plus it would be aluminum. That one looks like a mid 70's early mag case.
|
Definitely not an 86.

Well, I got it, hopefully I can trade it for or towards one that will work for my SC..

That should bolt right up to your 81 SC.
