May sell a '74 911

I'm thinking of selling my '74 911 and don't know how to determine the value of it or where to sell it.

The car has a rebuilt engine done by me with all upgrades. The paint is 29 year old acrylic lacquer paint that's in presentable condition with normal use flaws. No rust, body is near perfect (no fixed body damage other than replaced front fender and valance when car was painted in 1996). All original with some mod's that can be returned to original, I have the parts. Number matching car.

One major mod is to the seat rails. They were removed and built new ones from the floor up and tied down from both the floor board and the side tunnel. Bought new (14 years ago) Recaro expert M seats and Recaro sliders. This was done to add much needed head room.

Any pointers would be helpful.

Hagerty value will get you in the ballpark. go to Bring a Trailer and look at auction results for your year and compare those that sold to the condition of yours to get a valuation.

Looks like the ball park is about $50k. I'll need a good bit more to upgrade to a new car. Probably just sit on for now. Here's some pic's of it.

I think I'm going to put this car up for sale. It will come with many extra parts like the original parts that have been replaced, extra engine parts (i.e.) PC's, heads, cams and more plus some new CIS parts.

Anyone here interested? Have a cost you like? I'd prefer it to be sold local as its best that the buyer inspect the car as it is a used car and is sold as is.

The car has 204000 miles on it.

The engine was rebuilt by me about 15 years ago and has about 22,000 miles on it.

The transmission is original unopened, the seals were replaced about 50,000 miles ago.

Hood badge on car is red bar, I do have the orange bar badge in perfect condition with proper patina.

Forgot to name location.
Sacramento, Ca. Area.
I’m 2nd owner, original owner bought car from Lasher Porsche, that dealership was closed in the 90’s.

Is the color Gemini Blue? What was that the original color when you had it repainted?

Here's some more photo's.

I took side cover off to show relocated coil and Perma Tune. I do have the original CDI and black coil.

The under the fender washer bottle is removed, I do have it and don't think the washer pump is working.

The bolts in the shot with the black underseal around them are for a under the fender Carrera oil cooler.

Notice the patched hole in the smugglers box, that is a repair from removed dealer installed air conditioning system. There is another hole under the dash to the hood area that's patched, both patches are metal donors from a parted out car. There's one more hole through the passenger wheel well that's covered with a piece of aluminum.

The fan belts are original to the tool kit and are marked "Porsche".

Californians will be your best bidders, I'd imagine, since '74s are exempt from smog test.

If you plan on keeping it, I'd consider lowering the ride height. It's screaming for an adjustment.

Here's photo's of the floor boards and the built seat mounts.

this shows the patched holes from dealer installed air conditioning. Note I used pop rivets so I didn't burn up the interior with a torch.

Note; short people may not be able to see over the dash.

That’s a tasty little car. I wouldn’t even show all the seat rail modifications and just call it “custom Recaro seats and sliders installed” in your real ad. It’s like asking “do these pants make my hutt look big?”
