Pre-A speedster
Pre-A 1600 that needs everything. It's more or less complete with all the hard to find parts (seats, top, correct wheels, jack, gauges, steering wheel, bumpers, trim, lenses, etc)
numbers matching basket case This hasn't seen the light of day since the 80s Needs a pan at the very least it wouldn't hurt to replace all the sheet metal. Thoughts on value? Last edited by atlascafe; 09-05-2025 at 07:23 PM.. |

Pre-A's have always gotten the least love.
Here are two recent examples. Work backwards from there. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1955-porsche-356-pre-a-speedster-7/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1955-porsche-356-pre-a-speedster-8/ ---Adam

I am in the market and I find it difficult to put values on restored ones in this current market....
Restoration is insanely expensive and tremendously slow going for the "experts". I would hate to insult you w/ my opinion of the value based upon your description.... a perfect restoration just sold for $434,000. Needing "everything" just reduces it even more as the original numbered metal is valuable.

The good thing about this is that it retains most of it's original parts. Including the number stamped hood, the engine and transmission are original to the car. Same owners since the 60's, Most of the upper sheet metal is still good. And as Adam was saying, take your $435k number and work backwards, would 250-300k get you a perfect restoration, im guessing yes. Anyway, it sounds like $150k would be a fair price.
