Targa in AZ - Opinions
I've been looking for an SC or 3.2 and came across this car. It's a '75 w/ an '82 3.0 punched out to 3.2 w/ 46 webers, apparently built for $10k by a well-known PCar wrench in SoCal back in 1999. Story goes that the car has sat since then b/c owner lost interest. It hasn't run since '99.
Has anyone seen this car? Seller wants $10k (amount he claims to have invested in the engine), but that's nutty. Is it worth $5k? Interested in opinions. Thanks.

I feel that 10K is a bit optimistic for a car that has been sitting for 7 years! I think to get a true measure of the value of the car it would be in your best interest to go and get a pre-purchase inspection done at a reputable porsche shop. If the engine and trans checked out in really good shape and the body was in really good shape 6 to 8K maybe. If the engine or the trans are shot the price drops dramatically. I highly doubt you could get 10K for that engine if you dropped it out and posted it for sale. With divine intervention you might have a shot. The car looks like it was mistreated so I would definetly be alert to rust issues. The targa roof looks shot in the picture, the mirror is falling off, and the rear end looks really really low. Are the carbs webers or PMO's? If they are webers make sure that the throttle shaft is not worn. It looks like the car needs to be completely rebuilt, unless you are looking for a project and that specific engine I'd keep looking. You'll have to drop a lot of money into that car.

Rich, I agree. Plus it's a 75 (pre galv if I recall) w/ a transplant. I'm leaning toward SC's in the 10-12k range and there are a lot out there. Thanks.
