86 Cab wide-body pricing

1986 911 Cab Turbo-look

I'm not a home this weekend and don't have access to the Excellence used-car reports.

120k miles and the usual wear and tear. Assuming the low end of the spectrum for condition, what would the value be?

86 Turbo-look value

I'm not a home this weekend and don't have access to the Excellence market-value reports. It an 86 Turbo look cab with 120k miles and the usual wear and tear. Assuming the low end of the spectrum for condition, what would the value be?

Netspeed 04-29-2006 04:51 PM

What was the option code for the Turbo-look or would it be in the VIN#?
Thanks for the info.

CarreraS2 04-29-2006 04:53 PM

Not in the VIN.

Code is M491.

Will be on the sticker under the hood. Ans should also have that same sticker in the owners manual.

Netspeed 04-29-2006 04:57 PM

Thanks!

If factory M491 and US model, I'd say low-mid 20s, but that assumes it doesn't need a lot of attention. If it's not M491, then mid-high teens, similar to any 3.2 cab.

Bez 04-29-2006 07:37 PM

Thought I'd mention that the M491 code doesn't always show up on that sticker, even if it is an m491 car. It's unusual, but I had one like that (euro-spec).

I'm not sure about that - 120K is a lot of miles on the clock, and "the usual wear and tear" things on a 120K car usually adds up to a lot.

Carreras have been lower in price lately, and condition counts for everything. I would guess in the $15K range if the car needs a bunch of wear and tear items redone on it.

I agree with Wayne here. There have been a handful of m491 cabs offered for sale in all the usual places for a few months and none have really been going in the 20's with that kind of miles.

Thanks everyone!

Good luck getting one under $20K, if it happens it probably due to the need for $$$ by the seller.

In my opinion 120K mile 3.2 is nothing more then a broken in engine, as long as maintenance has been done and passes a PPI then anything over $24K and under $28 sounds fair as long as paint and interior is a 7-9 out of 10.

There were a few around in the weeks leading up to the start of this post, if I come by them I will send the links here. One was an ebay euro m491 car in Fla red... I will look tomorrow during the agnoy of a slow market until the FOMC meeting ends. I could be wrong? maybe.

And if someone is selling that car for less than $20K, I'd imagine it would be scooped up in hours, not sit on the market for months.

Course, I could be wrong, too, which is why I'd be interested in seeing some examples.

Might have to wait a while, not many to make examples of.

Hence the reason to pick one up quick!

The 86 Turbo-look Cab my friend found was on craigslist. I can't find the listing now but the guy was asking $19k and it was located in Burlingame(sp?), Calif.

Well over $20K and also over 120K miles, without original 9&7" Fuchs.

I said "offered at 23k" you may be able to get it cheaper, no one ever mentioned anything about what wheels needed to be on the car. I am just posting it for general info, you can nit pick all you like makes no difference to me LOL

"491" cars are HEAVY. Same 3.2 engine pushing more weight and drag (big frontal area) cd.
I owned one around 1991 and sold it after about 6 months. It was a pretty thing but quite slow.
