G50 Carreras and 993s
Hi,
I have been shopping for a replacement for my beloved 75S. I have noticed something strange; cherry G50 Carreras and cherry 95 or 96 993 are within a few thousand dollars of one another. What's with that? I like Carreras a lot but the 993 is supposedly the pinnacle of the air cooled Porsche world (other peoples opinion, not nec. mine). So, explanations? Thanks, Troy

I think you'll find that isn't really true. G50 Carreras have asking prices in the $20k to $25k range. Early 993's have asking prices in the $30k to $40k range. I currently own an 88 cab and am thinking about moving up to a 993. I'm in Canada so the numbers are a little different up here, but I've watched the US prices for some time now and there seems to be a $10k+ US difference between a nice G50 car and an early 993.

Hi Brian,
You might be right but... I almost bought (just missed by hours) a 1995 993 one owner with 35K miles. It sold for $36K. I lost a bidding war on a 1987 Carrera, one owner with 32K. It sold for $32K. That's my data. I am still surprised at how close they are consider eight years of difference in age. Troy
