Wink Wife or 911

Does anyone have any advice on how to convince the wife that buying a Porsche will be the greatest single thing to happen since the invention of Electricity?

First you gotta determine the basis for the resistence. Waste of money? Too flashy? Too impractical? The popular - though completely ridiculous -notion that one is compensating for something.

Waste of money...waste some money on her first.
Flashy...go w/ tame colors and sans spoilers.
Impractical...ok, you gotta give on this one.
Compensating...well, uh, you're on you're own there.

All else fails, wear her down by talking about it ad nauseaum, spending too much time on this site and leaving Pcar mags all over the house. This worked for me. Good luck!

Tell her that you want an additional four kids but a Porsche will suffice for now

Wife or Porsche

Thanks Bez, good advice. I'll get down to the local book store for some Pcar mags and photos.

Cheers
Pb (wife, no Porsche, yet)

Just take her for a ride in one. She'll either love it and want one too or she'll hate it and you'd be better off looking for something else.

In my experience, it's a pretty good bet she'll love it.

Shoot I gave my new wife a 84 Carrera instead of a rock (married this past Feb.). What is your wife driving now? Would yoru wife be interested in driving the Pcar? Encourage her but make sure she can drive a standard tranny first. YMMV

1. Buy a case of her favorite wine
2. Write up a contract, allowing you to buy a Porsche or an extremely fast motorcycle which you can ride without a helmet.
3. Get her good and boozed up.
4. Have her sign the contract. Drunken scribbles always hold up in court.
5. When she sobers up and sees that she has agreed to let you buy a death trap motorcycle or the best car ever made, how can she argue?
6. Find your ride.

So I don't have a wife and never have, but that is what I would do.

Or you could always go with the argument that 911's hold their value over time better than a civic or similar rig. I still like the wine contract method though.

My mother-in-law told my wife that having a porsche addiction was a heck of a lot better than hookers and booze. Worked like a charm.

What? You're not allowed to have both?

If she loves you she will let you have it... hey that line worked for her when you agreed to marry her!

Just buy the car and then hide it for a few months... Then take a day off and put the car in the garage and say nothing.

Good luck

Convincing your wife that you NEED a 911 is a tricky task, not unlike bedding a woman for her first time. There is the long draw out ritualistic practice of getting her drunk, convincing her that you/the car is something its not, and finally driving the hell out of your success while she realizes she really enjoys it.

It helps to marry a woman who loves Porsches!

When I finally got to where I could get one, I told my wife "How about we get a 911?" and she said "as long as it's black"

Gotta love that woman!

I just showed my wife how values are increasing on these cars and convinced her it was an investment.

Well...good news! I think I'm in the clear to buy a 911, it took a lot of work, but my good wife sees how cool it would be having a Porsche!

Porsche purchase

I found that the "I am buying a Porsche" worked the best. She was mad as hell for a while but she eventually got over it. Oh and I did buy her a motorhome ...
